Why is the Latin style of soccer so dominant in the world cup tournaments?

Come on. Ecuador has a long standing tradition of great teams. Right up there with Nicaragua and Guatemala. 🤪

They are very much a people my dear.

Nope. People are not a language. Learn history.

Sure, a Breton, a Mexican living in Oaxaca, a Romanian, a Sicilian, a Patagonian, and a resident of Lugano all are members of a group that constitute a people. Seems like a very worthwhile classification

The people of Europe fell under the control Roman Empire whose language was Latin…From which the Spanish and French language eventually derived.

The Spanish layer then “colonized” the Americas and the natives adopted Spanish as their language.

So…who are the latins? Italians. That’s who. No one else is Latin.

Everything else is false.

Better than everyone in CONCACAF, with the exception of Mexico.

The exact same could be said about the Latins in Europe. Romania is not very good internationally. Neither is Portugal.

The Latin world in Europe and in the Americas is quite large my dear.

There are more people of Spaniard, French, Portuguese and Italian ancestry in Latin America than in the United States.

Go up to one of them and tell them that they do not have a valid connection to Europe and that they are not Latin.

They will laugh at you. They will call you ignorant.

By the same logic, Native Americans in North America are English.

Do you believe that?

Well the majority of the population in Latin America is going to have at least some partial Spaniard or Italian or Portuguese or French ancestry etc..

Hence the term Latin Americans.

I am Latino, and the general definition of a Latino is someone from Latin America (South America, Central America and the Caribbean). I am pretty sure the Census defines it the same way. Spain, France and Italy are not Latin American countries.

They are not Latin American countries, but they are Latin countries. Spanish and Portuguese both have latino as a word.
I don't think all of the Caribbean qualifies, because you have to be speaking a Latin language, eliminating Jamaica, but including Haiti.

So by this logic (and OP’s) Suriname is not Latin but in Latin America? same with Guyana Costa Rica and Belize
