Isn't there more of a delay by CDC to make delta-adapted recommendations rather than a conflict of opinions here? Walensky has made some pretty strong statements about it, and Biden has said the CDC will update their recommendations. They just haven't yet. |
| By far the biggest risk factor to a child is living with an unvaccinated adult. Schools should focus resources on testing students that live with unvaccinated people rather than putting in place extensive travel bans and masking vaccinated teenagers. I’m sick of coddling adults who won’t get vaccinated. |
Yeah, the bold is probably accurate. |
Agree. The unvaccinated parents are a far greater risk than the covid-cautious traveler seeing vaccinated Nana in DE. |
| I would like to see required vaccinations for all parent of kids in DCPS. Of course I know I won’t, but that seems like it would increase safety a lot more than all of the other mitigation methods. |

Rather than worrying about some hypothetical yahoo Congressman, you should probably focus on the DC Council, including some who are absolutely not helping. |

Yay! I am a fully vaccinated teacher and I’m so excited that other people are making decisions for me! Because, you know- I can’t be trusted to make them for myself.
But wait- the unvaccinated teachers ARE being allowed to make their own decisions. Hmmmm Also, I find it funny that last fall the cry was ‘kids don’t get Covid- open up! Now it’s ‘kids get Covid- mask up’ |
I mean, the common thread here is that WTU interferes with accurate risk assessment. It would have been safe to reopen earlier, teachers should be required to vaccinate, vaccinated people should be able to drop masks, and kids shouldn’t have to mask outside. |
What are you even responding to? Are you just seeking attention with bad arguments? |
|
I support masking everyone in a DCPS building.
The positives far outweigh the negatives. |
Mandating masks for everyone is necessary, but not sufficient, for the positive (covid test)s to not risk outweighing the negative (covid test)s. |
+1 |
I don’t disagree but you have to be realistic. Unvaxxed people are the last ones who will allow identification and testing of their children in these circumstances. Vaxxed people would bring it on. So, given the actual situation on the ground, what can the schools do? |
I'm fine with masking. Open windows where you can. I think that's kind of all you can do (given the realm of possible) that would actually be effective at mitigating spread. Who knows if random asymptomatic testing does more harm than good, or if it is even useful in the context of low spread. I hope that DC will decide on a mandate to vaccinate teachers/staff (like NYC). |
