Truly don't know what the tan suit reference is to, but I'm confused as to why someone is comparing an expensive dress to the WH disregarding the fact that thousands of people can't afford to put food on their table right now. Fire Biden.

Make that millions.

Food prices have skyrocketed. 🎇🚀

I'm not sure where you're from, but on the planet Earth, in the United States, a 3% annualized increase in prices is not "skyrocketing." But, if where you're from it is considered skyrocketing, then we should celebrate the similarly skyrocketing wages for workers.

The PP has posted seven links to sources which ALL state food prices are soaring/skyrocketing. Here on planet Earth, food prices are rising dramatically. You refuse to admit this, why? You not only sound like a spoiled brat who refuses to acknowledge reality - but you also just sound really stupid.

Like inflation and wage stagnation just suddenly happened under Biden?

No.

Current inflation rate is under 2%. It was OVER 2% during Trump's administration. It dropped below because of COVID but is projected to stay at around 1.8% for the next couple of years.
Also there were big price increases in a number of goods like toilet paper due to hoarding, lumber and construction materials due to a construction boom with people moving, building additions and remodeling because of pandemic telework, and shortages of meat and poultry because of workers getting sick in meat packing plants. And again that all happened under Trump last summer, with ripple effects still continuing.

It was a dumb, tone-deaf tweet.

They cherry-picked a few items but we all know that prices for ribs, steaks, and other items have gone up considerably. And, the gas prices are quite higher than last year. So, you might save some pennies on the meal, but the trip to get the items will cost you more.

I don't know why the WH would want to brag that you can save a whopping 16 cents on items that they highlighted. Did they not know the response would be brutal?

An unfunny, infantile tweet.

Lots of Biden voters in comments explain their reason for offense to this tweet.

Complaining about student loans in response to the price of food essentially remaining stable since last year does not indicate that offense was taken.

Have you visited Twitter before? It's very common for people to tweet complaints to politicians that have nothing to do with the original tweet.

Did you put the tweet together? And expect it to placate the masses?

Prices That We've Never Seen Before': Rising Food Costs Hitting Restaurants Hard

https://www.google.com/amp/s/boston.cbslocal.com/2021/06/21/food-costs-rising-boston-restaurants-demand-transportation/%3famp

“BOSTON (CBS) – Have you noticed how much it costs to fill your fridge these days? Some grocery store customers are feeling sticker-shock. “The cost of produce the cost of meat, deli, things that are prepared have gotten more expensive now,” said Melanie Kinsley of Franklin.

“They haven’t gone up. They’ve almost doubled,” said Nick Rando, who owns Ziti Trattoria in Natick.

It’s not just meat. According to the National Bureau of Labor Statistics, cereal and bakery items are up 5%. Fruit and vegetables are up 1%, and dairy products are up .6%.

We have seen prices that we’ve never seen before,” said Jim Tselikis, who runs Cousins Maine Lobster, a national chain of lobster roll trucks, along with his sister. “

Food prices haven’t remained “stable.”[/quote]

Ah, so not only are you an Obama's-tan-suit-pearl-clutcher, you're also a reality-denier. The cost of food prepared at home is up 2.2% since the absolute trough of the pandemic recession. Yawn. What's that thing you guys always say? Nothingburger?

Food prices are never "stable", which is why they, along with fuel, are not counted in official inflation rates.

Over time they definitely go up but they fluctuate a lot in between. The Iraq war and the steep increase in oil prices definitely drove prices up--that's also when half gallons became 1.75 or even 1.63 quarts and quarts became 30 or 29.5 ounces. Grocery stores started selling oranges and grapefruit by the piece instead of the pound. (I'm the kind of shopper who pays close attention to these things.)

There are still supply issues. My brother farms and I laugh every time he tells me about how there are "lots of cows waiting to be slaughtered"--I just imagine what the cows are saying (btw, "cows" is often used generically even when you're talking about steers, so don't call me on that).

Overall the tweet exposes the Republican lie. And I'm sure that's why they did it.

LOL. No.

Consumers are already seeing rising costs at the grocery store. Before the pandemic began, the national average for a pound of bacon in January 2020 was $4.72. By last month, that price had soared to $5.11, according to exclusive supermarket point of sale data from Nielsen IQ. The hikes are greater in certain areas of the country. Boston and Philadelphia are paying nearly a dollar more per pound of bacon, while Chicago is up about 70 cents.

Consumers frantically rushing through the grocery stores like a coronavirus version of the hit TV game show “Supermarket Sweep” now have another challenge to deal with: skyrocketing prices.

April grocery prices shot up to the highest levels since February 1974, with meat, poultry, fish and eggs increasing the most, according to the latest Consumer Price Index released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Eggs were up 16 percent. Pork roasts, steaks and ribs, up 10 percent. Fresh whole chicken, up 7 percent.

New York(CNN) Global food prices rose for the 12th month in a row in May, up nearly 40% year over year, according to the United Nations' food price index. Last month was also the sharpest monthly rise in average food prices in over a decade, spiking 4.8% from April to May.

From Beans to Burgers, Food Is Getting More Expensive

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.wsj.com/amp/articles/from-beans-to-burgers-food-is-getting-more-expensive-11623344185

“We’re in a period of unprecedented commodity inflation,” Unilever Chief Executive Officer Alan Jope told investors Monday. He said Unilever would recover some of those costs in part by selling smaller packages of some foods at the same price as a larger size.

Higher prices on grocery-store shelves and restaurant menus are part of a broader rise in inflation. U.S. consumer prices surged 5% in May from a year ago to reach the highest annual inflation rate in nearly 13 years.

More expensive used cars and trucks fueled the increase, according to Labor Department data, and prices for furniture and airfare also jumped. Food prices are rising because of the higher costs for labor and transport but also ingredients including corn, soybean oil and wheat.

Supermarket executives said prices they pay for beef had gone up from 20% to 40% depending on the cut. Keith Milligan, controller of Piggly Wiggly grocery stores in Alabama and Georgia, said the company was passing much of the increase on to customers.“

I don’t understand how the pp who claims food prices aren’t higher continuously denies the fact.

The prices here in the Midwest don't seem any higher than last summer. At least the supply is back.

Gas prices are a bit over $3, but that is typical for summer.

And I am fine with it.

I would have paid ANYTHING to have that raging a**hole Trump gone.
