Name opinion - Daisy

Daisy really sounds dumb. Daisy Duke? Daisy Duck?

Use it as a NN if you want. If you want every other dog in the neighborhood coming when you call your kid. But give her a better name.

DP. Most of us have kids and I've never heard of anyone watching these shows. I've actually never heard of these shows outside the context of, like, pop stars' origin stories. They're hardly universally popular. And (in reference to other posts) Daisy Duke was an outdated reference when I was a kid (I'm 38).

Y'all are why people don't share their name choices before the baby is born IRL. Everyone has their negative $0.02 to add.

I think this has been destroyed. Why? Because it was only meant for WASPy names.

You can thank Barack Obama.

I don't know what Roadster Racers is but everyone I know with a toddler (barring the No Screen Time Ever crew) watches Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I still think Daisy is a sweet name.

Come inside, it's fun inside!

Love the name Daisy. If I were you, I would give her an option, a choice when she grows up to go with Daisy or Margaret.
When she's an adult, it's easier for her to legally change to the name she's identified with (Daisy from Margaret) than to find a new name if she doesn't like her given name.

My kids aren't allowed to watch anything I find annoying, which is basically any kids' tv involving children's voices or lots of frenetic movement lol. They can watch Octonauts, Tumble Leaf, Dinosaur Train, and movies like Frozen/Moana/Marvel superhero movies. I've literally never seen a single episode of Mickey mouse, either as a child or as a parent, and I am surprised Mickey mouse is still a thing TBH! Of course my kids have not had a lot of playdates thanks to COVID.

I have 9 year old twins and they loved Mickey and the Roadster Racers (two seasons, then renamed as Mickey Mouse Mixed Up Adventures). It was originally aired only on the DIsney channel, but older seasons are now available on Amazon Prime video. My kids watch a lot on Amazon Prime videos.

Katy Perry named her daughter Daisy. The dad is Orlando Bloom so she will probably be a gorgeous person but it might start a trend for the name too.

'
Rose no, Lily maybe, Daisy definitely,

Also, the name can't help but evoke memories of Daisy Duke.

For whom? The Dukes of Hazard is an extremely out of date reference. I'm in my 40s and only get the reference because of my older brother and the fact that I recently read Jessica Simpson's autobiography (she played Daisy Duke in the movie reprisal of DoH in the oughts).

I think most people under the age of 40 would have no idea, and would be more likely to think of Daisy Ridley or just, like, the flower.

There was a 2005 remake.

Agree. And, as others have noted, we've had Sandra, Ruth, Elena and Sonia and now Amy. And because we have Brett -- a very '70s name to my ear (though, yes, I do know he was born in the '60s, but his parents were a bit avant-garde in this ). My point is that names have become more diverse and individualistic. So, OP, if you love Daisy, then go for it.

I love the name Daisy! I wanted to name now 15 year old Daisy but DH nixed it. Still wish I would have fought for it.

I LOVE the name Daisy and think it stands alone without being a nickname. I'd go for it.

My dogs are named Olivia and Sophia. We had to put Ava to sleep last year. Undoubtedly one is your daughter’s name.

OP, Daisy is beautiful!

What about a name starting with D and Daisy as a nickname?
