Name opinion - Daisy

Neither of us care for the name Margaret, but think Daisy would be a nice tribute to great grandma Margaret without using the name officially. Big brother is Jonah btw

Daisy Jackson makes her sound like she is Boss Hogg's granddaughter!

Or like this lady, who was classier than you.

For me, it doesn't pass the 'dog test'. I know too many people with dogs named Daisy

+1. I think dog or cow.

Middle name would be Jean! Daisy Jean “Jackson”

It sounds Honey Bobo-ish. Just being honest.

I don’t know, do you think Amy passes the Supreme Court justice test? Because we have an Amy now.

"Daisy Jean"? Sounds deep south 1950s. Bless her heart.

Thank you everyone whose commented - you all bring up points I’ve thought of myself and am considering. We’re definitely are in a more “nickname” generation, aren’t we?

One of the big things is that so few people know Daisy is a nickname for Margaret, and I don’t like that they start with different letters. None of the other “Margaret” nicknames appeal to me either...

I’m pretty strongly leaning towards using Daisy as a standalone name, I love the poster who said it’s a good thing to have a happy association with a name I love that!

Thank you all so much for your input, it means a lot!

Why DOES Margaret have so many nicknames? And some are so random...Peg?? Daisy?? I have a Molly (JUST Molly, not nn for Margaret) so I've heard it all before.

I don't know about the others, but Daisy is a nn for Margaret because in French, daisy is margeurite.

I personally prefer it as a standalone name for the same reason OP mentions above -- if you are going to have your baby go by a nickname from the start, it should at least sound something like the full name. Plus sometimes initials are significant and I don't love the idea of giving my kid a name where her initials won't include the letter that her name that we all call her starts with. It's just odd.

I like it! I will be honest, I probably wouldn't do it (I work in a male-dominated field and it has jaded me) but I think it's cute.

Rose no, Lily maybe, Daisy definitely,

Also, the name can't help but evoke memories of Daisy Duke.

I think the short -y flower names sound childish. Daisy, Lily, Poppy...

For whom? The Dukes of Hazard is an extremely out of date reference. I'm in my 40s and only get the reference because of my older brother and the fact that I recently read Jessica Simpson's autobiography (she played Daisy Duke in the movie reprisal of DoH in the oughts).

I think most people under the age of 40 would have no idea, and would be more likely to think of Daisy Ridley or just, like, the flower.

Well I'm 40s and think of Daisy Duck.

I work with a Daisy and she's about as flaky as her name makes her sound. It's just not a grownup name, OP. It's a nickname. Name your child Margaret and call her Daisy.

My kids associate Daisy with Daisy Duck. Kids are still really into Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Roadster Racers, OP. Just FYI.

I got it OP!!
