What is going on at SSSAS?

This is not true for SSSAS. SSSAS embraces CRT and teaches students that America is “systemically racist”. They teach the children about “white privilege” and how you have to be anti-racist.

So why the hell would anyone send their kids there, if this is accurate? Serious question.

Because we believe in those values and want our white children to understand that with all her beauty America has yet to live up to her ideals.

So you send them to a $45,000 a year private school (to set them up to go to a $75,000 a year college), all so that a teacher who might make that much in an entire year can tell them that their whiteness is keeping beautiful America from living up to her ideals? In a nice way, of course.

I think I have it now.

MS parent here and one of the required summer books is Stamped.

SSSAS also implemented "Affinity Groups" for black, hispanic and asian cultures, but white kids get no group. They are the problem. We will go elsewhere for high school.

You sound like one of the closeted racists I went to HS with in the South asking when White History Month is. The US IS systematically racist Racism is not limited to individual biases we hold. It’s baked into our financial and legal system (whether intentionally or not). BTW, I am white.

NP. So telling groups of children they are terrible, when they or their parents haven’t done anything wrong is ok, as is telling groups of children of other races that it’s almost impossible for them to succeed on their own merit is ok? This is so racist and hateful, so divisive and just wrong. There are ways to teach empathy, love and academic subjects from multiple perspectives.

I’m thanking my lucky stars we did not send our kids to SSSAS. It was on the short list at one point.

Not what I said at all but I know reading comprehension and critical thinking is hard for conservatives.

Lots of parents there actually view this as a good thing and if you don’t then you aren’t welcome there.

No. lots of SSSAS parents DON'T view this as a good thing.

They're free to leave.

+1. As a SSSAS parent, I can’t wait for those people to leave. The school will be much better for it.

yep if lower enrollment numbers, a decreasing endowment and a mediocre at best college placement list is better, then you are right.

PP, if you went to SSSAS for college placement in the first instance, you made a grievous error.

You seem to suggest that the richest and perhaps smartest kids at SSSAS have families who are upset about the social justice curriculum. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Most parents at SSSAS definitely want racial justice education - and most of us would leave if they didn’t talk openly about race, Black Lives Matter, and systemic racism.

lower enrollment eventually leads to a smaller endowment. you are the one bringing up economic status and intelligence. And you think you can speak for the majority of an entire school. Wow. I have never seen such arrogance.
