Private & Independent Schools
So why the hell would anyone send their kids there, if this is accurate? Serious question. |
+1 MS parent here and one of the required summer books is Stamped. SSSAS also implemented "Affinity Groups" for black, hispanic and asian cultures, but white kids get no group. They are the problem. We will go elsewhere for high school. |
If you don’t get why white kids don’t get affinity groups like black or Asian kids, then you’re actively trying to misunderstand. Omg. |
Lots of parents there actually view this as a good thing and if you don’t then you aren’t welcome there. |
Why separate kids into groups based on skin color? What's being learned by that? |
No. lots of SSSAS parents DON'T view this as a good thing. |
Because we believe in those values and want our white children to understand that with all her beauty America has yet to live up to her ideals. |

So that they can have safe spaces to speak freely in |
They're free to leave. |
| The thing about private school over public is you can choose the environment you wish for your children. If a school's values run counter to yours, then it is not the school for you and you should not send your children there. |
I don't have kids at SSSAS but I have an ES student at another private and was thinking of SSSAS for MS. I do have another older child in public MS (he has special needs and I have not found a private that is willing to provide accommodations we need) and his class read excerpts of Stamped. My son enjoyed it so we bought the whole book. Glad to see SSAS is doing that. Makes me want to look into them more. |
+1. As a SSSAS parent, I can’t wait for those people to leave. The school will be much better for it. |

Way to go, SSSA! This makes me consider the school for my rising 7th grader sporty kid for 8th or 9th. Hang in there! FCCPS Mom |
