4 schools this week had cases. Just sayin'. |
Assuming you must work for ACPS - since that's not what this report says - https://www.acps.k12.va.us/domain/1600 |
A new candidate announced she is running yesterday in District A. Michelle Rief announced it on her Facebook page too. D Ross Ohlant is a Cora Kelly parent. I heard good things about her from other parents regarding her work on the TAGAC. |
There is a new candidate who announced on Open ACPS this week in District B, Dr. Ashley Simpson Baird. |
I heard rumors that former school board members are running again in B and that a second ACPS teacher who is retiring is running in B. |
I think Kelly Booz is the former SB member from district B that may be running. She was our ES school board rep when she was last on the board. I really have zero impression of her but she co-authored a glowing op-ed of Wilson a few weeks ago so hard pass. And anyone who was on the school board in the last 20 years deserves a lot of blame for the condition of our schools so double no for me.
She had her chance and was fine with the status quo. |
Rief is the only SB member I have any respect for so I'll take a look. Still wondering what the dust up was between her and Nolan when Alderton was elected chair a few months ago. |
Huh. Interesting list of co-signers. |
+1 to this (and Suarez but he isn't running). Dr. Ashley Baird seems a very impressive candidate to me since she is a former teacher and now working with schools and educational non-profits. I'm in District A so can't vote for her but she really stood out to me. And, of course, it would be nice to have another Dr. on the school board with all the "doctor" "doctor" from the ACPS folks. |
Agree about Rief and Nolan. Dr. Ashley Baird has a stellar resume. She seems like a good candidate for B. |
What should I know about Kelly Booz? I am in District B. |
Do people only vote for former educators? If Bridget wasn't vocal about reopening, would you vote for her? |
Is Heather Thornton running in District C or not? It doesn't appear that she has filed. |
Bridget isn't a teacher but has a background in early childhood education and working in K-12 schools. She was a researcher and is social worker. I'm in District C so I can't vote for her. I don't think being in a Facebook group would prevent me from voting for her, no matter how the people were on social media. I know her from volunteering in Alexandria. She's a behind the scenes type of super volunteer. Bridget gets things done. She might be part of OpenACPS but that doesn't mean she would be their puppet. If you think that about Bridget, you are mistaken.
She works at my agency and she is the go to person about fiscal monitoring. She's been there forever but worked different offices. If you want someone to expose what is really going on in ACPS, it's Bridget. |
Whatever happened to Marc Solomon and Jewellyn Cosgrove from last election? |
