Bridget provides recaps of board meetings in easy to digest language. She’s a good communicator. In Open ACPS, she is even tempered, calm, and measured. She will hold Hutchings accountable and represent the community, not special interest groups. She isn’t a consultant and this isn’t a goal of hers, to be a politician. She’s just a working mom who is fed up with the status quo and believes our kids deserve better. |
Are Heather Thornton and Veronica Nolan running? Can someone post the email Veronica sent out to her supporter? |
Meagan Alderton has many conflicts of interest. She doesn’t even send her kids to ACPS and never has! |
Bridget Shea Westfall is a fed. She’s subject to the Hatch Act and can’t have Democrats create her sites like other candidates who have Act Blue created Instagram and Facebook pages. Bridget is a Democrat. Have you seen her house? She has BLM banners all over her fence. And not just before it was cool or woke. She’s legit a do gooder. She’s worked on grant programs for years and has been a community volunteer. It’s sad that people are categorizing her as unelectable for being in Open ACPS. She’s an essential worker. Think she might be interested in getting her kids back in school? |
Can you explain this? I'm not following. There were whistleblowers at your daycare who had information about daycare toilets and the nut job who shot up the Congressional baseball team? I'm sure all these nice things about her are true. But I've seen the screenshots that are circulating. So it also sounds like her best course of action is to not publicize her campaign on the Seminary Road Diet page like she did with the Open ACPS rally. |
Bridget’s kids have been in child care for essential workers in an ACPS school all year. I’m a fellow Campagna parent. She is beloved by Campagna staff. When ACPS did not sign up ASA, Boys and Girls Club, Campagna and the programs for kids in public housing up for vaccines, Bridget contacted the board and got parents to write. I know she helped the Campagna staff got appointments too. Because that’s the kind of person Bridget is, someone who helps others. I encouraged her to run. She’s a behind the scenes kind of person so this is a big ask of her to run. |
I've been watching/listening to ACPS SB meetings for years. I've never heard Heather Thornton say more that five words. |
I know about her not sending her kids to ACPS. What are the other conflicts? |
There were a bunch of whistleblowers who reported health and safety issues. One was the way the day care handled the shelter in place and notification to parents when there was the shooting in Del Ray for the Congressional baseball game. The old director made up some policy and Bridget called her out on it and organize patents to have a forum and contact corporate. She had parents at the day care who were DC homeland security, DCPD, FBI agents and military oeuvre public testimony and expertise on the policy and it’s flaws. The same teachers who were whistleblowers m reported the non working toilets which constantly flooded and closed classrooms and caused a health issue since kids were in rooms with toilet water. The old director said she could personally fix the toilets. There were other issues, like the day care only ordering food for 50% of the students to cut food costs, so teachers were going to Whole Foods and buying yogurt, milk, fruit and snacks with their own money, teachers smoking on the playground, kids with IEPs not having their services from their school districts, teachers having their pay and hours cut, kids being left in buggies on the playground. Bridget helped organize the parents and get the issues resolved. |
All that’s to say, Bridget Westfall is the person teachers turned to to go through the chain of command and get things done. They trusted her. And she protected them and got shit done! Bridget is not a status quo. |
According to the COI, Alderton has at least three conflicts she would have had to as for an exception to serve on the board. |
Being good at virtue signaling is a reason to elect someone to public office? No. Really though, like someone else said upthread, her participation in and support of OpenACPS is the only reason we need to not vote for her. I can't think of any sane person who is a member of that group. I don't even think they know what the issues are anymore, they're just a shrieking, toxic mob of idiots. |
The issues are the same as they've been for over a year. Kids are not being educated in an appropriate format. ACPS is reluctant or unwilling to follow CDC guidelines. ACPS won't open the schools more than 2 days a week for SOME kids - even though case counts are zero. And the current school board refuses to hold ACPS accountable for any of this. It's absolutely not a bunch of whining - it's a bunch of parents that desperately want and need their children to be educated. I'm assuming you either don't have kids, have older kids, or are just an insensitive person with zero empathy for the struggles of many. |
Wow, you’re a very small and close minded person. |
The problems with the SB / Hutchings did not start in March of 2020. This year has been a disgrace but the problems with Hutchings did not start a year ago. I'm not going to vote for anyone who doesn't recognize the broader problems within ACPS. |
