I’ve always wondered what the inside looked like

We also had one of these at the top of my former street.

The home is HUMONGOUS, its gorgeous, but doesn't really fit in the neighborhood.

Still dying to see the inside.

This thing has been for sale since we moved here 3 years ago. We looked at it then. They have not reduced the price. There is NO OUTDOOR SPACE at all. No where to play soccer or sit on a patio or put a basketball hoop. Most people who want a big house in MD, even close in MD, want at least a some outdoor space. It's not close enough to the metro or restaurants to make up for the lack of a yard or other suburban amenity. It's a city house in the suburbs.

Also the floor plan is crazy. It is set up so the entire bottom level is an apartment. So the living space is actually like 3000 square feet with a separate apartment added on. It's difficult to image who wants to pay $2.5 million for this layout. That price point is too high for someone who is needs a renter to help with the mortgage.

The inside is dark and strangely decorated. It's a very idiosyncratic style. And it is directly on Wisconsin with zero buffer vegetation. Not one tree or bush or tiny shrub to provide a shred of privacy or otherwise soften the fact that the house sits like 10 feet from a pretty busy/loud road. If you lived here you would have to have the blinds drawn on the entire front of the house 24 hours a day. Say goodbye to daylight. If your kid's room happens to face the front of the house, they'll never see the sun or sky. Again, who wants to pay this much for that?

The fact that this house has been offered again and again at the same price over the last 3 years is puzzling. Why do they not lower the price if they really want to sell it? But I would not buy it at any price. It's too big for a couple or single person, yet it's not designed for a family. It's a big house but not designed for entertaining. It has many bedrooms, but no place for children to play. It's not a mystery why it has been sitting, and sitting, and sitting for literal years.

Does anyone know what it originally listed at in April-Sept 2021? They got greedy.

They TRIED to sell it in 2021. We were looking then and we saw it. But it's a disaster of a house for all the reasons mentioned here. The seller is insane not to lower the price. It's been listed at this price since at least 2021. To make it into a family house would require a ton of money, yet it's already too high. Plus, there's nothing that can be done about the location directly on Wisconsin or the lack of yard.

I'm the PP that started the recent thread about this house.

BRAVO. You have eloquently put my thoughts into words. I appreciate it.

Damn, I wish someone knew the backstory though! Was it built by lottery winners from a third world country? Was it designed in Minecraft?

I don't know a lot about real estate so could someone please explain what is happening?

Why is the seller selling so soon after building unless there is pressure to move such as divorce, relocation, etc? If so, why would they leave it on the market for so long? Why not drop the price? Was this always intended to be a flip and they are just delusional about the desirability of this house/property?

The foutons make me wonder if it’s a local pro athlete who got traded or let go. It’s definitely a more money than taste vibe.
