What would you change about DCUM?

Lots of private school parents post on the public school forums too. I’m guessing most of them (in both directions) see the post in Recent Topics and don’t realize what forum it is in. This is easy to do, especially when scrolling on a phone. That’s why the customizable Recent Topics would be so cool.

I’d ban the twat that doesn’t understand why single and childless people post here. 🤣🤣

Everything else is cool, Jeff.

What did you post.????

Oh gosh, I am really boring. But I don't see the point of keeping old threads around.

This is good but I’d go a step further. Real names, no VPNs. I know it’s impossible.

DCUM needs a facelift. It looks pretty dull.

COVID only forum
Bring politics back to recent topics. It has really calmed down
Swearing doesn’t bother me. Same with grammar nazis.
Hall monitors do bother me. Especially the off topic or crazy troll calling. Sometimes the threads go interesting places
Everyone should read carefully , all pages, before posting, and like a PP said, just be smarter on here; higher IQ!
There are too many “that’s the joke” or “yes, it’s sarcasm” for the humorless on here. Viva the witticisms!

No they don't.

I have one kid in private and one in public - I read, and post in, both the private school forum and the public school forum.

I’d like to see the addition of a military / military family forum. DC is so central for DOD personnel that I think there’d be a good market for it. Nothing exists right now to get and share info anonymously. There are FB pages for different military bases, but obviously that’s not a place to post without being known, and there’s also the issue of posting something (about plans to retire or looking for info about a new location before an assignment is announced) that you don’t necessarily want to publicly share with people in your chain of command or your neighbors.

I’d love to be able to discuss things like retirement, promotion woes, post-retirement jobs in DC, finding housing, Tricare and insurance, spouse employment issues, and different duty stations. Not that DCUM should be the answer to the issue but I think it’d be a good fit and welcome addition to have a military board.

No they don't.

Yes, they do. Posts for the past year of “well, we used to be in (insert school district name here), but reading these posts, it’s such a s-show, I’m glad we got out!!!”

Anonymous wrote:I enjoy and appreciate this forum for the most part. Here are a few things I would change:

1) I would like posts from people who, if not trolls, post the same thing, using the same language, in every thread, even if the posts aren't relevant, to be removed when reported.
2) I wouldn't mind a forum that was just for support, where no judging is allowed. Every time I vow to quit this forum, it is after reading a post from a struggling person who clearly is looking for empathy get judged and torn apart by vicious DCUMers.

+1

Long overdue. Moms need support.

Lifetime ban for the fragile people who hate that they can't post about how horrible they are without getting called on it.

I’d don’t know I’d need to pay to be a member of this C suite or if my many years of service, and few Jeff-deleted posts, automatically qualify me.

I would ban my IP address because I don't understand why I keep wasting my time by coming back.

+1 to a feature that we could use to ban ourselves.

That is easy enough, just post an aggressively pro conservative viewpoint on a controversial subject, and Jeff will ban your IP address for a few days. After a few warnings like that, you will be completely banned. Probably quicker if you are an actual racist.

Require a reading comprehension test before you can reply to a post.
Allow an OP to edit their own post. I’ve had several autocorrect incidents that I’d like to do over.
