So let's take Arlington's Boys U14 ECNL team. They only compete in ECNL. They do not compete in EDP or any other VYSA league. Can they not participate in State Cup? If they can. how do they get around this rule?

Maybe they form a small private league with three other clubs and all play each other? That would appear to satisfy the rules.

But they don't. I'm very familiar with this team. They don't play games outside of ECNL. Hell, the coach won't even let the kids play in tournaments.

All the Arlington teams scrimmage regularly don't they? Would you even know if Arlington had registered a small league for some of those games so they counted? As far as I can see, that would meet the requirement.

I'm glad to see some enthusiasm here at DCUM for a tournament like this. This is what all the great international tournaments are like. It's not the war of attrition, playing 4 games in 36 hours. I think everyone gets so caught up in their club, their child playing, the travel slog. Let's celebrate what we got here and see all comers have a chance to compete.

Now don't be unfair. The best teams are not afraid to compete - just the ones which have the badge and the pricetag but not the ability. Competing would provide evidence that they are no better, and quite possibly worse, than other nearby clubs which charge half as much. Arlington enters all its teams. Alexandria appears to have done the same. Mclean, to its credit, also does so even though their teams are not all that strong.

It's just BRYC, Loudoun, VDA and Richmond that have decided not to. And it wouldn't surprise me at all to see VDA and Richmond enter next year - I'm guessing they didn't even think about it this year as they were not previously allowed to enter when competing in the DA league so it probably just wasn't on their radar. That would leave just Loudoun and BRYC hiding from the competition. The reason is not too hard to find.

Arlington and McLean have entered their second teams at U13/U14. Arlington Red and McLean green are the 2nd teams once you hit U13. At U12 the ECNL clubs enter their top team although McLean has not entered theirs. Probably still in witness protection.

2007 Mclean girls Green is in the Presidents Cup, not State Cup. Not sure why they put their 2nd team in CCL2 and in the lower Presidents Cup....

Someone posted that McLean u14 ECNL team is registered as a "Non League Cup Team". What is a non-league cup team? Should Arlington be registered similarly since they don't play in any other leagues besides ECNL? and how does this title get the teams around the requirement that they have to play in a VYSA league? Not the PP - but from my reading of the text, it could be anything at all. As long as a VYSA member club sanctions it and the team plays three games. For example I think an internal rec league would count. And I assume a club could just register a league for four teams - similar to an internal rec league from the same club and play games against itself to qualify. e.g. U12A vs U12B, U12A vs U13A, U13A vs U13B etc. I'm guessing there are rules for member leagues too, so the leaue would have to meet those requirements whatever they are. And I'm sure that VYSA would be more than happy to sign off on such a league to help an ECNL team qualify.

So for the U14 boys at least, round of 16 games are on 5/1 but the locations are TBD. Are these games usually at the home team's fields or is is a neutral field, or how is the location usually determined round by round? Thank you.
