3-4 weeks. There should be an orientation at the Center school where you can hear about the program. I imagine it will be virtual this year. |
| When are appeals due this year? |
| Do you get to pick which center your child goes to? or is the center determine by your based school? |
You don't get to pick (unless you are choosing center vs local). Determined by your base school. |

Who makes the decision between choosing a center vs local? Our current school does not offer level IV services so they mention our kid will need to go to a new school if found eligible. If determined by our base school, we are not sure we would follow through with the process. Are they any exemptions or a request for a placement to a different center? |
No. You either stay at the base and get local level IV or go to the center that is zoned for your school. Best of luck. |

I love how everyone is so worried about getting into AAP when there is no school on Mondays and there is only limited in person school.
Rome is burning folks. |
AAP kids don’t need school on Mondays anyway. Not our concern. We want our kids away from the gen ed bottomless pit. |
+100!!!! |
Since no external testing will be accepted (is this true?), what can be used as new data to appeal? No recommendation letters, no awards, no external testing... What's left that the committee will accept? |
That’s not true. It says on the website you can use external testing. Now whether they will give much thought to it is another thing...new data can be a cover letter to the committee, new work samples. I just got my packet from the AART and she left out one of our most important samples!!! So I will include that if we need to appeal. |
You can include it but the committee is not likely to consider it. Take a look at the packet that was built for your child. Look at the areas that the committee said were weak and try to address those with your comments and work samples. If it was that your child would not/could not describe how they solved problems, find some similar worksheets and have your kid write how they solved the problem. Let spelling errors and the like stand. Don't re-write it or have them re-write it. Just let them explain how they solved the problem. |
My child’s packet was great. GBRS was outstanding with detailed comments. I fully expect we will be accepted and won’t have to appeal. |
