No! Nothing guarantees entry. There were several kids with 140 plus WISC V scores that didn’t get in my kid’s year. Really comes down to the GBRS.

What GBRS score guarantees entry?

What is the committee looking for? How do they determine your child is IN? Is is just based on testing scores? Do you have a better chance if you have a teacher referral? and or high GBRS scores?

No one knows. GBRS appear to be more important but no one knows of a magic combo. CoGAT was the most important test score.

I would not be surprised to find that there are different criteria for each Center based on how full the Centers are and how many kids are being considered for each Center. I know people say there is one standard but that doesn’t feel right to me.

Goodluck! We received notification last year on April 8th 2020.

Emails/letters go out the Friday before Spring Break. Check the email you used if you submitted a Parent referral or questionnaire because that is where the email will go. DH used one of his obscure emails so it took us a while to find the email.

Is this confirmed?

No but that is when they have been sending them out historically. I get that this year is different but I would suspect that they will aim for that release day. It gives them close to 10 days to let Parents stew over the results before having to address the parents. They like having that cushion.

I just hope that parents this year get longer then 2 weeks to make their decisions and that those of us who went through this last year can attend open houses this year. We kept our child at the base school because we heard nothing from the Center and we did not want to change schools during the pandemic. DS is able to attend Advanced Math and Level III, which is great, but it would be nice to see what the other option is.

Unless they have changed the dates, FCPS plans to notify schools and send letters of AAP Level IV eligibility or ineligibility to parents/guardians on Apr 4/5, per: https://go.boarddocs.com/vsba/fairfax/Board.nsf/files/BWRJWL4F2EE3/$file/N2401%202020-21.pdf
