No, horrible idea.
I would try getting out of the lease now. Maybe switch to a bigger apartment with the same co if that's available and they are not willing to let you break the lease (which I doubt will happen, because there is a moratorium on evictions).
If the housing situation does not work out, then one of you extends parental leave until you get to your new house.

What I would propose with a 2 bedroom

Bedroom 1: set up as master bedroom with a baby crib in there
Bedroom 2: Set up as an office

Nanny and baby get the living room, but nanny puts baby to nap in the master bedroom.

That’s not workable if both parents have video calls.

Pack-and-play in the living room or move the crib into the living room in the morning.

It's a lot easier for the adults in video calls to put on noise cancelling headphones, than it is to put noise cancelling headphones on a newborn so they can sleep in the living room with the nanny right there.

Why would an infant not sleep if the nanny sits there? Fwiw, I vacuum and do other noisy things during nap time; when kids are used to it, they block it out.

If you are interested in "assessing" what the nanny who is in the next room is doing and you haven't seriously considered options such as renting a temp office or out placing your child, maybe one of you parents should just take care of the child for awhile. Did your husband take paternity leave? Maybe it's his turn to take care of the baby.

What’s your long-term plan? Will either you or your DH get permanent WFH, or at least ability to WFH 2-3x a week? If so, I’d move to the suburbs and buy a townhome or home with some actual space for your child and nanny to run around in
