APS vaccination plan: Send out the link to some staff ( miss SpEd and mental health). Have staff sign up for an appt, but don’t give confirmation. Some staff will keep trying, eventually obtaining up to 29 slots. (Those people needed to chill) Staff then cancel extra slots when confirmation shows up an hour later. APS send out email that confirmation is not confirmation. Maybe no one really has an appt. Why does APS always have to pull an APS? |
It’s like they’ve never done this before...🙂 |
The people who didn’t get the email seems random, I know some people in SPED and mental health did get them. Had they thought it through they would have released slots to phase 1 and pre-K-2, waited until they scheduled then released more. I still didn’t get my email, or the the email explaining the issues. |
Earlier this week "APS sucks! they haven't signed us up for vaccines!" Later this week "APS sucks! They are trying to sign us up for vaccines!" ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
It is taking all of my restraint to not pointedly remind the teachers that they are jumping the line in front of COUNTLESS people who desperately want to receive the vaccine, and are doing so with a continued anthem of being resistant to returning to school while they receive those prioritized "essential" worker vaccines. It is so demoralizing and disappointing to watch. |
And it is taking all MY restraint not to pointedly remind the PP that no less than Gov. Northam assigned teachers 1B priority. So no, PP, teachers are not "jumping the line." Not to mention, I'm going to guess that you are one of the parents on this thread that has been berating teachers to go back to teaching in the classroom. I would think you would WANT the teachers to get vaccinated so that they are comfortable going back. |
DP. They were given this priority with the expectation that they would then return to in-person learning. Hearing teachers demand that they be allowed to continue teaching virtually even after getting the shot is demoralizing and disappointing because it completely undermines the purpose of giving them priority while taking away those doses from people who have a greater need since they are working in-person. |
I don't know a single teacher that doesn't want to go back to in-person learning after being vaccinated. Not a single one. |
You must not be looking too hard then. Hop on AEM. |
+1. It’s also the position of AEA that schools should not re-open for in-person learning this year regardless of whether teachers are vaccinated. |
The AEA is a joke! I'm a teacher and know a lot of other teachers, plus in a facebook group of only teachers. Most are ready to go back with the vaccine. Of course there are a few who don't want to ever go back and some of them are vocal but the majority of teachers are ready to get the shot and go back. |
+1 The AEA doesn't speak for most if it is saying that. |
Once teachers have had their two shots and two weeks for the final one to kick in, APS should start to bring back students in K-5. Don’t think there is sufficient data on safety for kids 6-12 with these high virus rates. But even then, so long as everyone there is either vaccinated or happy to incur the risk (I’d make all parents sign waivers), go for it. I’ll be keeping my 12/14 year olds home til rates are much lower. |
+ 10000 Some posts suggested that not even Fall 2021 should be in person! It's crazy. |
