APS Teachers In School for only one week of prep

Ridiculous! Go. To. Work! Have anxiety? Get some Xanax, put on a mask and show up. I am sick and tired to this crazy teacher worship that goes on APS for no good reason.

Duran should say at this point you come back or your fired. And no there is not going to be some mass exodus of teachers. There just is not. I don’t care how many post here or tell their friends or whatever nonsense they say. When push comes to shove, they aren’t quitting.

Last night at the CCPTA meeting, Duran indicated what APS does for return dates will be aligned/similar to other local districts. No dates given though.

Your principal sounds like a jackass.

Our principal does not think that is what is happening. They were reporting what the school board is hearing from parents.

Yup everyone can thank Arlington Parents for Education for this stunt. APE has been flooding board meetings, ranting about teachers. I'm embarrassed to have these parents in our school system and feel awful for teachers.

They. Are. Working.

Seek psychological help for your ridiculous anger, entitlement and adult tantrums. You have exactly ZERO influence over teachers. Zip.

I imagine it does have something to do with appeasing parents who want to see some steps taking to move toward opening. Didn’t they have two days to set up classrooms randomly in the fall, probably for the same reason? I picked hybrid for my kids, but also emailed the superintendent and the board to ask them to wait a few weeks for teachers to get the first vaccine. I want my kids back in the classroom, but I don’t need it to be right this very second when cases are soaring and a vaccine is almost here. I would still send my kids in right now if it were an option though! I don’t care at all if teachers teach from home. It makes sense that they should have a few days lead on the students coming in to the classroom, but that doesn’t seem imminent, so I’m glad they are limiting it to one week for the teachers sake.

I too picked hybrid and wrote to engage similarly. The rates of infection are higher than ever and 4500 ppl die per day in the US. Let's vax the teachers and wait until spring. It's logical; more logical than teachers teaching from an empty classroom. That's just going to add inconsistency to the day. Duran is clearly weak. His job sucks, for sure but just make the hard decisions and Just Do IT. Stop listening to parents! We are all annoying and entitled.

APS is aligned with other districts , none of which , absolutely zero, have firm return dates. Nice.

Teacher worship? You must be living under a rock if you think teachers in this area are being anything but bullied.

Let’s not forget the “lawsuit” by the guy who openly supported the actions of last Wednesday. You might want to get your gofundme $ back.

Don't care if they have to work 100x harder. Good. I hope it's a nightmare. They are the SINGLE reason we never went back in the fall and why we're coming up on a year of no school. DL is not school.

Let them work until their fingers fall off. I have absolutely no sympathy for them.

This has nothing to do with anxiety. It’s stupid to call them back for a week, then send them home. It serves no purpose. Call them back in the weeks preceding student return.

For those of you asking, yes, this plan is way different than what was initially presented. It doesn't make any sense.

She's a piece of work.

Because they are rightfully backpedaling from their plan to return in early February. Why they thought that was a wise thing to start mobilizing last week is beyond me. At least they were smart enough not to put out actual dates. They are sending teachers in for a few days to save face. And even that is reprehensible given the virus rates and not much vaccination at this stage. FCPS won’t even float their new plan til February. So we are probably looking at March. Let’s hope teachers can be vaccinated by then. That is a sensible plan.

You know the guy at the head of the APE lawsuit is a maga head right? He literally retweeted that “if you are more upset about the Capitol insurrection than the stolen election, you’re a democrat”.

Great one to align yourselves with, parents.
