Do you think there will be any in-person learning this spring?

If you follow Montgomery County on this dashboard, there have been only 3 cases in the past two weeks. There have been very very few cases related to "outbreaks" which means two or more cases. It is such a joke that people try to claim that schools are spreading covid. They are not.

3 cases associated with schools. Lots of cases associated with other workplaces. Even the White Oak county liquor store. Schools are workplaces —even for adults who do not work directly with children.

LOL...the liquor store had one case. It is about whether the cases are transmitted within the schools. They are not. Educate yourself.

Ya can't see it happening. I mean I think they'd like to please all the super whiney rich folks that want their daycare but just can't see them putting kids at risk.

I think kids will be in school for the fourth quarter, and yes, it's worth it for just the fourth quarter.

(My kids are in high school, so you can skip the daycare comments.)

High school kids will be the last to go back.

If people really cared about schools, they would stay home, not socialize, travel and only do necessary appointments and shopping outside of work and child care. Those who aren't doing that and claim to care about kids/schools are fake and selfish.

Until in person school resumes in MCPS and then it will clearly be spread in schools (a workplace).

The liquor stores have so much hand sanitizer and yet they still had to shut that location.

People did do that and got cases way down over the summer. It still wasn't good enough for MCEA. They've made it clear they will fight school reopening until the very end. Even school nurses want to go back. The teachers are the only ones holding this up.

The principals' union (administrators) and the secretaries' (admin assistants) also are being far more reasonable.

They have done no such thing. I know it's hard right now, but please spend more time in real life and less time on line.

Ok, and so therefore...?

My guess is that they’ll start hybrid for group 1 in March when cases for respiratory diseases naturally start to go down and phase 1 of vaccination is almost complete. They’ll promise that group 2 will be next but it will not happen before the end of the year.
Everyone will be hybrid next Fall, but they’ll have to shut everything down in November when the final wave happens.

In late Aug, there were more cases in MoCo than when schools closed on 3/13.

Fortunately, we know more about Covid now than we did then.

Yeah, we did that. Montgomery County was pretty much shut down for two months in the spring.

It didn’t make a difference for the teacher union.
