PWC has similar sized population to DC, yet averages about 1/20th the number of homicides.

Sorry, but no go. I worked with him many years ago when Ramsey was Chief. Pete had that attitude then. Ninety-eight-percent of the uniform MPD live outside the city. From that 98%, I would garner that 60% don't really care what happens in this city and to the people who live here. MPD under Pete and Cathy cost the city millions in discrimination and unlawful arrest lawsuits, but who cares. It's just DC taxpayers footing the tab. |
Gangster police behavior, "protect and serve" my ass. |
Holy smokes, that's a lot of money. |
Not by DCUM standards. And he didn’t go to an Ivy. |
Yeah, everyone on dcum claims to make over 600k haha. This guy is pulling in about 400k/year. Not too shabby for law enforcement! |
|
Being a Chief is less about law enforcement than it is about politics.
I can’t imagine a lot of folks in PWC are exactly thrilled with the prospect of him as the new Chief. PWC is an odd county. Lots of immigrants, but also tons of military and rural conservatives, both groups that skew heavily towards Pro-2A politics. They’re going to be very wary of Newsham’s previous public stances on guns. He has a very fine line to walk here. It’ll be interesting to see how he does it. |
Plus a pension of about $224,000 a year until death. That's pretty sick, tbh. |
| Under Newsham, MPD worked closely with far-right wing groups such as OathKeepers, Proud Boys, etc. to get information on liberal groups. There's a current lawsuit still pending in DC Superior Court regarding the matter. 2018 CA 1083B. |
He'll be fine. He will flip the script and tell the people what they want to hear in PWC. He is a lawyer after all. |
Citation other than Huffpost? |
They are actually pissed. When I saw the news I hoped he didn’t move there for an easier job. I think the politics are going to be MUCH worse there. |
That's the case number in DC Superior Court. You can read the court filing for yourself by doing the case search online in the court system. MPD is being sued right now to turn over all the names and information MPD shared with the right-wing groups. Also, I was unaware that Huffington Post ran a story about the matter. At least some news agency took an interest. This would are all over Fox News if MPD had shared information with BLM or similar. |

I want to know why crime is going up in DC. The budget has not been cut. We have more police officers per capita than any other city. What's up? Clearly more police officers is not the answer.
PWC can have him. Although he's going from the pot to the frying pan. |
MPD officers are basically laying down. What do they care, ninety-five percent of them live in Maryland and Virginia. The entire senior management staff, including Peter, of commanders and assistant chiefs live outside the district. They really don’t care as long as their six-figure checks hit their back every two weeks. And yes I know Peter had to get a DC apartment while he was chief, but is he really living in that comparatively cheap Apartment? |
