Why can’t your child contact others in the club to get together outside of school? I am club sponsor and this is volunteer. I’m not paid and I’m not working in the building. I can’t drive there to organize a group on my own time. I don’t have time right row since I’m busy with my own young kids that are home. As a parent, there is nothing stopping you from organizing a social event for your kids that doesn’t involve school.

^^^ This. Stop complaining about clubs not being able to meet and instead just organize a meet up. Offer your front/backyard. Or meet up at a local park.

Exactly. I lead a Girl Scout troop affiliated with an APS ES and we have been meeting in person at a park since September.

It’s important to note the parents and kids can organize meetups. Teachers cannot do this for school based clubs. We have been explicitly told do not do it based on the personal liability we incur holding a school event on our own should anyone get sick.

Your kidding yourself if you think its just Ohio and not happening here. Lots of basketball tournaments happening all over the DMV.

+1 Most every sport is currently that was to be played in the Fall is being played right now in Fairfax County and the rest of VA, just now for the actual school. My kids go to practices 3 times a week for two different sports and have games in addition to that. My neighbors children are in 3 other separate sports and play for other rec programs. Ice hockey, tennis, volleyball, basketball, gymnastics, field hockey, swimming. They are all going on. All indoors too but field hockey. These kids range in age from 2nd grade to HS. You are absolutely kidding yourself if you think this is just in Ohio.

But springs sports aren’t on until end of April. We’re going to be shut down until then? U think?

Hope not. I got state champion material at my disposal. It’d be a shame to lose that glory of writing our names on the history books over mass fearmongering and paranoia.

Excited for this season! Lessssgooooooo

I have kids in sports too. I was specifically talking about basketball because their are rumors that high school basketball won’t happen. And the rec leagues haven’t been figured out yet.

Good for Arlington. If the kids can’t be in class, they shouldn’t be in gyms breathing hard and exerting themselves.
