they do shut down and reopen. there are few deaths because it’s not actually that risky. latest research is that covid spreads in a limited way in schools, so quarantining the class works. |
+1. There are many districts across VA that have been opened for in-person schooling. Just because the NOVA schools haven’t opened doesn’t mean the rest of the Commonwealth can’t move forward. NOVA is not all of VA, and shouldn’t penalize the rest of Virginia athletics simply because their leaders chose a different path. This is not just about FCPS. |
PP here. Thanks. That’s what I’m struggling with. Isn’t that a major concern people have and a reason why we aren’t in school? I’m an ES teacher and I’m disappointed we have missed all this time while other districts are in. I actually saw a teacher post something like, “They are sending us back to diiieeeeeee”. |
Ask me how I feel that all my kid’s cousins are back in school because they have the money for privates or live in reopened districts!!! |
All of my close friends have had their kids back in this area since last week of august because of private school. |
Just saw some pics from rec league basketball in Ohio. Haha it’s just amazing to me that some areas of this country are not even dealing with covid life anymore. |
What numbers? Are you not reading news? Its getting higher not lower |
DP To be fair, just because we’ve seen an uptick doesn’t mean current numbers don’t support having students in schools. |
Malarkey. FCPS has CDC K-12 School Metrics in the Highest and Higher Risk categories. |
Doesn't matter. Schools will be shut down by December for this second wave. |
But springs sports aren’t on until end of April. We’re going to be shut down until then? U think? |
Exactly. I lead a Girl Scout troop affiliated with an APS ES and we have been meeting in person at a park since September. |
No it doesn't. Sorry that you don't know how to interpret numbers. You need to look at all of the metrics, not just one or two. One is in the higher risk category, others are lower or lowest. Community transmission remains moderate, the hospital indicators are all excellent. Looking at all the metrics, this region needs to reopen. As they are doing. |
Ohioans (my home state) are largely a bunch of red staters (outside the cities) who are in major COVID fatigue. They've harassed and threatened their state version of Fauci to the point she resigned. They have been appalling to their Republican Governor who did a very good job at managing numbers there - until now. They've bullied their way into having sports, let's be clear. Ohio is not exactly an example her as their numbers are increasing at a far faster rate than ours our here . . . . |
Your kidding yourself if you think its just Ohio and not happening here. Lots of basketball tournaments happening all over the DMV. |
