The Crown - season 4

Does anyone understand that the show is not history.
It is invented, researched band closely based on historical events, but also just a drama
Not a documentary, more like shameless royal propaganda to convince the British to continue to maintain the useless tradition and pay the bills

Of course it isn’t history. Not PP but in the BRF there is no role for the monarchs siblings once they have children. Especially in a modern era were a bunch of their kids are unlikely to die. That is factually true of Margaret and Harry’s situations regardless if the show itself is fictional.

It's their fault that Diana didn't know what to do and it's also their fault that Thatcher doesn't know what clothing to bring. How would she know they were going out traipsing around in the mud?

la la la la la - its fiction darling - la la la la la

How naieve are you? Diana and Margaret were both notorious for how much they hated the royal family. You think there weren’t good reasons for that?

Really. You need to learn to spell the big words before you use them. NAIVE. The show, for better or worse, is a FICTION its not a documentary or a docudrama.

You are like those weirdos who watch soaps all day and believe they are happening.

OMG. You're going to get on someone else's spelling when you spelled "it's" wrong? Laughable.

erm, that is a word that has been *punctuated* incorrectly, not spelled incorrectly (or wrongly but never "wrong") we could go on like this or you could just crawl back under your rock...

Have you even read this thread ? - multiple people have been pointing out that it is a fictionalized tv show.

I loved that episode right before the wedding.

Sorry if this has been covered -- do you think it would work to watch this season of The Crown if I haven't watched any of the others?

No. Plus the others are EXCELLENT. Start at the beginning.

Generally, it’s fine to skip directly to this season to see the Diana stuff. I have multiple friends who are doing this. It’s not a big deal.

But you’ll definitely lose some of the nuance and context if you haven’t watched the previous seasons. The Queen and the rest of the family have history that informs their words and actions towards Diana. She entered an existing family dynamic that was unique, cold, and jarring.

I think someone asked this earlier in the tread. You should definitely watch the entire thing. It's so good, you'll be glad you didn't just skip to the most current season.

Madam Google was not a lady in waiting.

I'm less excited at this series because I lived through this era with an education on the royals form the Australian Women's Weekly.

Thanks to those who answered my question about watching the whole series, not just the season. I couldn't get it into it the first time I tried but maybe I will try again.
