Why the shaming around age-gap relationships?

Within living memory it used to be illegal to have sex with someone of a different race in much of the US. People were killed for engaging in such activities. Same sex liaisons were beyond the pale.

The same people on this thread yelling "gross" and "yuck" would have been frowning on interracial or same-sex unions. We accept two men getting together to form a family (I think it's fine), but a couple with an age gap is totally unacceptable? Why?

Of course there will be challenges for age gap couples. But the same could and was said for same-sex or interracial unions years ago (what about the kids, etc.). OP is not some naive teenager. She knows people age and her friend's dad won't always be a fit 52 year old. If she's willing to deal with the challenges, why should anyone care?

OP: The fact that he's your friend's dad is somewhat awkward, but given your age not a big deal. It's not like he's preying on his teenage daughter's friends.

It's not the age, it's the fact that it's his daughter's friend. I forget boundaries aren't a thing for some people.
