MCPS language immersion placement decisions?

Hello! We missed the deadline for entering the lottery. Is it worth us submitting an application, knowing we'd be placed at the end of the lists?

I'm wondering if the parent has to confirm that they are accepting the spot before the student takes the test, or is the testing done first and then if the student passes then the parents make the decision? If the student is in another immersion program and accepts the new spot but doesn't pass the test, are they able to stay in their current program?

Yes. I would like to know this as well. Thanks.

you have to take the test first. If the child passes, then it's your choice on if you move them or not.

Anyone have information on The Maryvale French Immersion wait list? Has anyone on here accepted a spot off the waiting list?

probably still too soon to see.....original offers have 5 days to decide, after that 3 days for the next ones.

Thanks. I was thinking if the first round had to decide by Monday then the second group would have has to decide by today and there might be some movement

I have heard that people are starting to get invites off the waitlist. That makes sense, if you have 5 days to respond and then it moves on, the timing seems right. We are #4 but haven’t heard anything. I’m nervous that I missed the email or accidentally deleted it or such. I don’t want to bombard them with unnecessary emails or checkins. Any way to preemptively accept?

Does anyone have an idea how the tests are being administered in Covid 19? Are they doing it over the phone or zoom? Also, if you are already in an immersion program, but looking to change schools do they still require testing or do they talk to the teacher/look at test scores?

Do they call parents or notify via email if the child has been accepted?

I have a child who came off the waitlist mid-summer last year and it came via email. I don't know whether they would have followed up by phone if I hadn't seen the message.

They do follow up with a phone call if you don't respond to the email.
