I think the Arlington decision is complex because they have to figure out both boys and girls. And the best option for each isn’t the same. Either the boys go MLS and the girls go GAL (better for boys, worse for girls) or both go ECNL (better for girls, worse for boys). If MLS isn’t an option for the boys then I bet the whole club goes ECNL. Richmond United and VDA are campaigning to get Arlington boys to go ECNL, which might override Mclean and BRYC trying to veto ECNL on the girls side. Many moving pieces.

Amazing how girls ECNL parents think their teams and mid Atlantic division is so strong but the boys mid Atlantic which includes all former DA teams except DCU is so weak. Literally no self awareness whatsoever.

Amazing how girls DA parents bashed ECNL relentlessly but are now clambering to get in. And when ECNL parents mock them shamelessly here, they lash out with the same old trope.

I’m not so sure this is true. It seems that there is an ECNL driven campaign here to make the board think that people who are deep into recruiting will switch clubs. I don’t buy it for a second. They want to kill the new league before it gets off the ground. Someone who is deep into the recruiting phase has a lot more to fear from switching clubs into an environment where they may not even play to staying with their current teams where they have chemistry and showcase properly.

Your kid won’t make it in college off the bench if she needs chemistry to make her look good. Any top player can adjust and adjust fast to who she plays with.

I think what people have been saying is they are confident that they would land on a ECNL roster and displace a kid. What they aren’t sure about is if the change will even be necessary.

My kid plays ECNL in the DMV and I agree with you. The talent of the top 6-8 at FCV and Arlington impress. They can and will replace some of the starting 11 in ECNL. I for one want the better players. Why? Speed of play, reading the field and top training speeds that will help get my child ready for college. Skill pushes the skilled it’s just that simple.

The top players in DA are also going to pick the BEST ECNL teams first. FCV kids are not going to be interested in a bad VDA or Loudoun team.

Sounds good! Try BRYC or Mclean then.

I do agree the best DA players will look to the better ECNL teams first and depending on the age group can be a lot of different clubs, below is the top nova team in each age group (used league standings)
07- Loudoun
06- VDA
05- Mclean
04- VDA
03- BRYC
02-Mclean

VDA 04

Agree. LMAO. If VDA is best 04 ECNL team in the area, then they for damn sure don't want FCV or Arlington in the ECNL in that age group. For VDA dad that was posting scores of scrimmages, how about VDA squeaking by Metro 2-0 (but let me guess, when VDA has a scrimmage, its just a scrimmage).

WRONG again, get your scores right.

No dog in this fight, I looked at the standings, they were the highest ranked team in Northern Virginia at that age

With 6 wins out of 20 games and a negative goal differential. That should tell you everything about the mid atlantic ECNL teams in that age group.

Does that not also tell you it is a competitive league?

Sure. Every team is equally blown out by Richmond. So competitive and mediocre.

Okay so the ecnl is weak, remind me what league you are playing in?

VDA 04 beat Richmond by four in preseason then lost bad first game with a lot of players out then only lost 1-0 last game. Coach B even stated on tape that game was the most competitive game all season that they had played. You really don’t know what your talking about. One thing is for sure you really hate VDA hu? Jealousy is a real thing ladies and gentlemen.

You do realize there is video of VDA 04 on YouTube? Yo do also realize that some of us actually know a lot about the game and don't just yell kick it Mia! Run Mia! Boom it Mia!

What is your deal with VDA? did your kid not get what was promised? Sour grapes.

Should they communicate before knowing what they want to do, or should they communicate in order to find out what they should do? No easy answers for any ex-DA club under those circumstances. For most of Arlington, it does not matter at all. And for most parents of kids on teams that matter, no decisions are necessary for some period of time. I am sure they are aware that some people will jump ship in the absence of more communication in the next few weeks. And they probably are thinking, good riddance. Plenty of others who can step in.

They will put forth 2 teams (U15/U17) in this MLS league and the others will play in the EDP with hopes of someday getting on the MLS team. The girls are still waiting to see what FCV does. If they join the GLA then Arlington will too with hopes of selling it to their families. If FCV is doing it then it must be good! EDP is an option for girls too but up to this point it has been light on the girls side. Arlington views the boys and girls separately and are not willing to base decisions for one looking at how it will impact the other. They are going to make the best decision for the boys team and then look at what options remain for their girls and will make the best available decision for the girls. If ECNL is not on the table for the girls they cannot chose it.

So boys side determines where Arlington ends up with no real input from the girls side? The girls side will just have to go along with whatever the Arlington decides is best for the boys. Not a great thing if you are in the girls program.

I don't think this is fair to Arlington.

It seems to me that Arlington are attempting to do what is best for both boys and girls independently. In other words they want the boys to join the MLS leage and the girls to join ECNL. It would not be right for Arlington to make any deal which sacrifices boys' wellbeing for girls, or girls' wellbeing for boys.

The teams which seem to be putting their own interest ahead of the kids are the ones blocking Arlington girls from joining ECNL without the boys. McLean and BRYC are hoping to benefit by getting the best players from Arlington which will improve their own reputation and profitability. The fact that they will conseqently cut some of their own players, breaking up existing teams all over the region, cause anxiety and longer travel times for many kids and parents doesn't seem to bother them at all.

The DA directors are happy to talk to any parent with questions.

If you go look at the exDA clubs in the soccerwire top 100 clubs list, you will find 17 DA clubs who are in close proximity to ECNL clubs. None of these are getting in either. This is likely not because they are getting vetoed by their ECNL neighbors. It is much more likely to be a decision made by ECNL leadership. Just sayin.

If Arlington can't keep their ex DA teams together the BRYCs and Mcleans will get better, However there will be some disappointed players and parents at the current BRYC/Mclean rosters who will be cut from their current rosters.

And on the boys side, I don’t think either of those clubs would get a single Arlington DA player.

You know VDA beat them then only lost by one last time they played. Did you also know Richmond04 is ranked higher nationally then FCV04? VDA also beat Bethesda when FCV lost against them. You can say what you want but the scores are awfully close when playing the same people. Why don’t you put your money where your mouth is and play them that’s of course when life resumes. If VDA04 gains 4 players they would be unstoppable.

So their 04s are better than all the Ecnl 04s. I get it now.
