That’s not normal

I think it is. You would be never know unless we went to the range together. Otherwise I’m just another white collar professional living in a big suburban home in a nice neighborhood. But stigmatize all you want, it’s a good look for you.

Im stigmatizing and it’s a great look for anyone. Nobody needs a dozen firearms.

Maybe you don’t realize different guns have different purposes. A shotgun, rifle, and handgun aren’t all that interchangeable. There are also different ones used in different types of hunting or sporting activities.

Fortunately, given your ignorance in the matter, you don’t get to decide what or how many another person “needs.”

what do you think will happen that you need a gun? what do you envision?

What is "here?" I think you'd be surprised how many of your neighbors, co-workers, etc. own weapons. They just don't talk about it all the time.

So by your own admission you need 1 shotgun, 1 rifle and 1 handgun. Three guns. Buy one that meets most needs in each category.

But keep acting like an ahole on DCUM... that’ll really fix the reputation of gun nuts!

Many fewer “here” in major metropolitan areas than in the countryside, and declining all the time. PP is right that a large majority *don't* own guns

Lol....

You're right. There are FAR fewer shooting deaths and incidents in Washingto DC and Baltimore than "countryside" areas!

Nope, none at all...

“to effectuate”? Ha ha I love it. I suspect this is the first time a gun owner has ever used the verb “to effectuate” with a gun transaction.😳
You just effectuated a wonderful laugh from me!😀

Hurr durr gun owners iz dum dums.

The gun owners I know: Ivy graduates, MDs, PhDs.

I am the OP of this post. We’re both attorneys. The stereotype some people on this website assign to gun owners is absurd and totally off base. Not every gun owner is a trailer park queen from methland.

Very true. My DH served in the military for 20 years and grew up hunting. We’re AA Democrats.

I am also a democrat with an ivy league PhD who recently purchased my first gun. Saw a thread yesterday on DCUM recommending that I instead throw baby powder at a home invader because it is more effective. I don't think intelligence is the primary determinant of gun ownership...

Guns not shooting deaths, idiot. Reading comprehension is everything.

Continued economic freefall = growing desperation (for some) = more crimes of desperation, some of which will be violent.

Anybody else thinking the “dem lawyers” posting here are trolls?

In any case, a few anecdotes doesn’t prove that existing gun owners aren’t driving the bump. As you “PhDs” should know. In fact, existing gun owners aren’t going to post about it now and undermine NRA pp’s claim.

If you gun lovers want to do something for your image, rein in NRA pp’s obnoxious posts and unsubstantiated claims.

Continued free fall for how long? I’m waiting to turn my house into an armory until this has been going on a year or more and/or the social safety net has evaporated.

Stop trying to make this into NRA talking points.
