Can’t you search the internet? |
“to effectuate”? Ha ha I love it. I suspect this is the first time a gun owner has ever used the verb “to effectuate” with a gun transaction.😳 You just effectuated a wonderful laugh from me!😀 |
| Agree about the concern ... Things will PROBABLY be fine, but am strongly considering picking up new shells for my old shotgun in case things go south. |

OP, not sure exactly what you are implying in your question and post. May I suggest an alternative to a handgun for you: a heavy lamp or a bb bat.
I sense that you have not handled a gun before or taken a safety training course. After you do take safety training, your first shots should be supervised and at a paper target. Also, OP, you sound a little unstable, and not someone who should be in possession of a handgun, at least until your emotions are soothed or your immediate feelings pass. Just a thought. |
Sorry, missed today's press conference, did he say something in particular today that made you scared or was it just the same as every press conference? |
I guess it was just like all the other press conferences, but next to the coherent and intelligent medical expertise of Dr. Birx and Dr. Fauci talking about how serious this is and that we are right now at a point where cases will explode if we don't follow the guidance of the president, and then hearing the president talking incoherently -- I just got it that we are in deep trouble because we have an idiot in charge. Who is going to follow his guidance? Trump says it's a very serious situation that is going to get worse before it gets better, and then two minutes later he says it's no worse than the flu and we need to reopen the economy. So yeah, no one who follows Trump will do what we need to do to flatten the curve. We are going to go down because he has told his base that it's a hoax and that's what they decided to run with. He was asked to comment about how people are applauding health care workers on the front lines and would he like to say something about it, and he couldn't do it. It was a soft lob in his direction and he couldn't even hit it. He said, "Have you seen those doctors going into the hospital? They're putting on those paper gowns, and they're walking into the hospital, and I know that hospital, I grew up next to that hospital, and to see that, to see them put on those paper gowns, they put them on and they walk in, and people clap. They clap. It's amazing. They clap for them." WTF he can't even make a coherent statement thanking health care workers on the front lines. We are doomed. |

Op, my DH always wanted a gun in the house and I was anti-gun in the house.
When my DH turned 50 I gave him and myself a weekend gun class. What I learned is you don't touch it unless you are prepared to use it. None of this brandishing business. I also learned, it is f'n HARD to use correctly and you have to know how to aim it and deal with the kickback and especially how not to accidently shoot off your foot or finger etc. My analogy is like riding a bike. If you are still at the wobbly stage of riding a bike, you cannot ride it when you are completely freaking out. You have to know how to ride that bike so much so that it's just reflex, and then when you are freaking out and scared, you will wobble with that bike but still manage to be able to ride it. A gun is the same way. You have to do upkeep; not get rusty. It's a whole "thing." It's like dialing 911....you'd think it's super-easy, but it's hard to do when you are shaking. Just saying. That class gave us lots of training, but we realized that we'd have to do a lot of upkeep classes or go to the shooting range to keep it up enough for us to safely have a gun in the house. |
Thanks a lot. This is smart. I grew up with guns and used to be able to shoot a battery off the fence but that was a long time ago. I'm actually totally anti-gun because I would never want to shoot someone, but I think things are going to get ugly. |
This all just seems really odd. Are you sure you’re not an NRA bot here to plug guns for the common man/woman? Yes, Trump is a blathering idiot and it would be so much better to have somebody competent in charge. But how on earth is a gun going to solve anything? You keep saying “we’re going down” and “we’re doomed.” Do you actually think there’ll be rioting in the streets and violence against the privileged? Race riots? Today’s kids will rise up against their parents because of the massive debt we’re taking on? Because we’re a long way from any of that. Assuming we get COVID under control in a few months, and we elect a better president in November, we’ll have the opportunity to put the economy back on track. My only long-term worry is the massive debt we’re taking on, sometimes for dubious reasons. |

That’s VA. OP is in MD |
We are not going to get the virus under control. That would take a disciplined approach and that's not happening because we have no leadership. Trump has already told people we should go back to work because the effect on the economy is worse than the virus. So people are listening to him and acting like the virus not a big deal. We're not going to flatten the curve. Lots of people are going to get sick. The economy won't get back on track for a long, long time AND we aren't going to get the virus under control. It's a shame we will get the worst of both options. At least if we shut down the economy and got the virus under control it would be worth it but that's not going to happen because Trump followers have been given mixed messages. Maybe we will all go on welfare? |
Trump hate and gun hate come out of the same jar of crazy. |
