I can pass a background check. I just thought it was be easier and quicker to buy one from a person rather than a store. How would i do that?

What state are you in?

That might make a difference.

I saw Andrew Cuomo's press conference. That man is amazing. What a leader.

Don't worry about buying a gun. This is a pandemic and like the Black Death, people will not loot from the homes because they will be scared of catching the contagion.

Besides, why the hell will anyone loot your home, when they can loot the grocery stores etc? Who wants your lame ass groceries and weird things that you eat?

We will not have a famine of food. There is a vast stockpile of food in our country. Yes, you may run out of soda and junk food and your favorite sushi, but, you will never run out of food.

Agriculture in US is very mechanized. We do not need many people to till the land. However, we may need people for harvesting the crops. That can be an issue, but for the next 2 years...we are ok.

Seriously. And I am the most paranoid person in the world.

There is too much riding for the very rich people in the market that they will not have law and order situation deteriorate.

PP quoting myself here.

OP, do you KNOW other people who own guns? Ask them. Do a little research into the general type of gun you are looking for, and ask them if they know anyone who is looking to sell theirs. If you are specifically looking to purchase from an individual instead of a store, try word of mouth.

Thanks. This is good advice.

I bought my gun off a co-worker. We went to a gun shop to effectuate the transfer. They handled the paperwork even though I didn’t buy the gun from them.

You probably missed the bus. I can't imagine anyone with a gun wants to sell it now. Not even sure the local gun shops are open or what they have. You can always try https://www.gunbroker.com/

My local gun store is selling guns by appointment. Their contact info is on their website.

So do they put the gun aside for you until you clear the background check? How does it work?

It depends on what state you are in.

OP is in Maryland and it's probably illegal there.

In VA you can do a private sale without a background check, but the buyer must be a VA resident. It would be illegal for a VA resident to do a private sale to a resident of MD.
