Actually our preschool is much safer, as they offer health insurance for the teachers and they check everyone's temperature daily. The teachers have been with the school for 5+ years each. I'm not going to find a stranger now to come over to the house and potentially infect everyone. |
You are fooling yourself. I'm sorry but the only answer is social distancing and a preschool does not qualify. People with covid19 are contagious before they have a temperature, if they ever do have one. You cannot stop the spread by taking kids' temperatures. I love our daycare too, but we decided yesterday to keep DD home and have just received word they are closing. We are devastated as they are fantastic, and very worried for the teachers. But hundreds of thousands of peoples' lives are at stake. It is the right decision. |
Do whatever you want, I love our daycare too but I also watch the news. |
You don't understand. I can't find a reliable nanny tomorrow. My H works in healthcare and I can't have my little one on conference calls with me, I will get fired. |
Well, if enough people make your choice we may not be able to. Awesome, thanks for killing grandma! |
Given the current situation expectations are lower. It’s going to be OK if you’re kid runs across the screen or cries in the background. Everyone is going through this unless they have a sulky teenager that would rather hide in their room (and doesn’t need a snack). |
Mute button as often as you can. |
You don't understand. In a couple of weeks or less you won't have a choice. |
We are probably days away from mandated quarantine, at most. |
First responders and others with essential jobs have to have childcare. Some of us do not have the option to work from home and our workplaces cannot shut down.
So while there are many, many fewer kids at my daughter's preschool, it remains open. She has had 3-5 kids in her class this week, as opposed to the typical 12. They are thoroughly sanitizing -- the place smells like a Clorox bottle. |
3-5 kids is far better than 12. |
My kid’s been at home with me this week but my daycare has always kept the kids in small groups and now they’ve split them even more into pairs of best friends/close in age . Workers wear gloves at all times and change constantly. They take turns cleaning. The setup of the daycare makes this possible. |
Unless the groups are truly kept in total isolation from each other , meaning group a literally does not come into contact with any surfaces, objects or people that group b comes into contact with, they are still very much at risk of spreading the virus amongst each other. |

Even playdates are dangerous. Millions of lives are at stake. Daycare should truly be a last resort. |
