Ok and there are also 25 year old millennials- point is there are a lot of people out having brunch and out at the playground with their kids. |
Good luck finding some. |
Painkillers and fever reducers are easy to find here. Toilet paper is gone but all medications are in stock. |
Please keep your child out of daycare. |
We have a 4 year old and a 22 month old. We plan to send them. |
Reeks of privilege in here....
I’m sending my kid and paying for her services until/if she decides otherwise. If she closes and I have to pay someone else to watch my kid, then I won’t be paying her. Keeping my kids home and trying to telework is not realistic (or allowed). |
There’s no value added if everyone gets sick because you decided you had to send your child to school so you could peacefully telework. You don’t have to do it just because you can. |
I feel terribly conflicted. Daycare is open but DH doesn’t want to send. We both have to work and I have work from
Home flexibility. I’m worried I will be fired and not be able to pay bills. I’m worried I’m doing my kid a disservice interrupting school. I’m worried because I have to keep paying so I can’t afford a babysitter. I’m worried we are going to make it worse by going. That her grandparents will get sick. And others. It is a big center with lots of people in and out. that we will All get sick ourselves. There is no good answer. I’d feel better if the choice wasn’t there for me. If there was truly a way to say “if you are xyz..then you get service. Everyone else stay home” |
There is no way to say that, though, because there are people in what are non-essential roles whose companies are not allowing them to telework or are only allowing them to telework on certain days (meaning they need care for the other days). Some of the banks are working on shifts--meaning they want people to come in for one week then telework the next. Some companies are allowing only x percent telework. Those people don't have essential jobs, but they will LOSE their jobs if they don't have childcare. |
We (the parents) are working from home, but we are sending our kids to daycare. We told both grandparents they can't see the kids for awhile. We aren't going out anywhere or exposing ourselves to anyone. We will do grocery store pickup. So, in theory, if our kids get it, it hopefully would stop us.

*stop with us.

Yes. |
The problem is that DCUM handwriging aside, people are still going to send their kids as long as daycare is open. If you are truly facing financial difficulties or job loss, it's a really tough choice knowing that the virus is spreading and will come to you even if you keep your kid home. |
OP again. I kept kid home bc I didn't want stink eye from the teachers, and also DC has a cough and mega-runny nose. When I emailed the provider to let her know, she said they will be closing tomorrow. |
What about all the people who are not emergency personnel but have to go in anyway? There's still a lot of those people who aren't allowed to telework. Should we let them lose their jobs? |
