| Obviously the parents being racists doesn’t mean the murderer kid isn’t a total monster but I found it so gross that the dad would lie about it like that. I mean when your close family is speaking on background to the paper after a kid has been murdered to confirm how racist you are, you can’t turn around and say you just randomly put up white supremacist memes on your Facebook page. I guess the apple didn’t fall far from the tree. |

His Facebook cover page quotes David Lane’s “14 words,” which the Southern Poverty Law Center describes as “the best-known slogan of the U.S. white supremacist movement.” Lane, founder of a group called the Order, died in prison after a conviction in the killing of a Jewish radio host in 1984. “I don’t even remember why I put it [up],” Norwood said of the post, which remained online as of Wednesday. “Maybe I was having a bad day.” According to his friends, Levi’s relationship with his girlfriend made him happier than he had been in a long time. But they also wondered how the interracial relationship would play with his parents. Both were against his dating a black girl, the relative said, but his father was “adamant” about the issue. “He didn’t want Leviathan having anything to do with her.” |

I think it's pretty clear that he meant to kill his brother and his parents. If you accidentally shoot someone you call 911 which he clearly did not do. He meant to kill his mom and his brother. Then he waited for his dad to get home and thoroughly intended to kill his dad, too.
I don't know why he didn't just run away if his home life was that awful. I can understand why he would be angry with his parents for their racist views but to kill them and his little brother over it and then flee? Why? |

Most mass shooters:
- come from families with financial instability - are victims and/or perpetrators of domestic violence - have a fixation on violence or guns - have some kind of extreme ideology or are "columbiners" The fact that he was rebelling against his parents racist belief system doesn't mean he is woke. Given the facts, it more likely means he was motivated in part by the prospect of angering them by dating a black girl. There is clearly something very wrong with this kid's belief system independent of how warped his parents may have been. You cannot divide the world into "deplorables" and "woke". There are too many variations of good and of batshit to be that simplistic. |
