I hit a goose and now my neighborhood is at war

Why couldn't you wait a few minutes? Instead you accelerated into the poor creature and caused it to suffer.

this reminds me of a Seinfeld episode.

Where is OP and can she tell us if the goose was actually dead? Or lying in the middle of the road in great pain?

The fact that she didn’t bother to get out of her car to check says something....

...Have y'all ever MET geese? They're ornery as hell.

She said it was "still" which probably means "permanently napping by the side of the road."

Now if a dog runs out in front of you and you are not at fault thats one thing. But to see a goose crossing and decide you are more importand and just run it over, thats just cruel and you can be charged.

There was an incident in Laurel recently where someone ran over seagulls intentionally, The Police are looking for the suspect.

Agree.

How self-important you are that you couldn't just wait a few minutes and then you justify by saying you "nicked" it, even though you saw you killed it.

+2. She couldn’t wait 3 minutes. And then she couldn’t be bothered to get out of her car to see if it was dead, because then if it was suffering she’d have to do something.

Sure. So is my neighbor. Doesn’t mean I want to see him in pain after a car accident.

I would have waited for them to cross, but I have no love for the ill tempered geese that make their home here all year and poop all over everything. I would ride it out OP. Maybe throw some mud on your license plate.

If she just got a 2-second glimpse in the rear view mirror, she really has no idea.

Most importantly of all, do we know why the Canada goose crossed the road in the first place?

Was it self-identifying as a chicken?

Was there a Tim Horton’s on the corner?

Because it was on its way to apologize to someone?

One dead goose is no ones loss but the fact that you just ran it over to avoid waiting is somewhat sociopathic.

I can't stand squirrels but I have run them over twice accidentally and both times it makes me feel squeamish for a minute - I would never intentionally drive over any animal big or small.

Sounded to me like she knows she killed it but was trying to be funny in her response.

Haha, yep. Was just about to post this. They are downright MEAN and they will come after people. I can only imagine what would've happened if OP had gotten out of her car to check on the goose as some PPs have suggested.

Geese are jerks. It might have just stopped because Geese will just stop in the middle of the road. If its laying there hours later then sure its dead but being still for a Goose does not mean that it is dead.

What kind of person just runs over a goose? I would def not let my kids come to your house or play with yours. That’s not the actions of a well person.
