Do women get in fewer accidents (and therefore have lower insurance) because they are better drivers or is it because men are more likely to be behind the wheel so have more opportunities to get into an accident? |
Men are more aggressive drivers. Women are more defensive drivers, sometimes annoyingly so. -signed a woman |
| He often drives (he thinks I drive too slow), but if he's been driving a lot that day or if my car's already warm, then I'll offer to drive. I'd say he drives 60% of the time. |
This! Also, I dislike highway driving, while DH dislikes city driving. So he does nearly all the highway driving and I do the local/city driving. |
| I drive more with my husband but in couples I know where the husband always drives, it's because the guy genuinely enjoys driving more than the wife. I don't think its more complicated than that. |
My husband is the worst local driver with jerky breaking and the kids and I all get nauseous, so I do all the local driving when we’re together and he does highway driving so I can sleep. |
Funny! My father in law is like your husband. MIL much better driver, burt FIL drives. Wish they used your approach! |
| Chivalry. |

Husband drives 70% of time if couple or family outing.
I drive more often for commute so a nice change for both of us. At night, he drives as I have reduced vision and get sleepy earlier. Also, he drives a bit faster so it’s often a time consideration. |
| In our case, it's because he enjoys driving and I do not. If we're running around town, he always drives. On a road trip, though, we split it evenly. |
My husband & I are the same height. |
My wife is a terrible driver. She will admit this. So bad that I can't be in the car with her if she drives. When we're together, I always drive. It's not a gender thing as I'm perfectly fine being a passenger when my daughter drives. |
| I fall asleep if I am not driving. Doesn't matter if for a 10-minute commute downtown or a three-hour drive to the beach. DW finds it VERY annoying... so now I do most of the driving. |
| I mostly drive because I learned to drive when I was 16, having grown up in the suburbs. My wife, born and raised in Brooklyn, didn’t really start driving until we had kids. |
| For us it is a relic of when we were first together and I had a car commute while he used metro. I was sick of driving and he never got to use his convertible, so he usually drove. Now that we have traded in the convertible for a minivan, he still does most of the driving.. |
