Mommy blogs and dooce

+1 it makes a ton of sense. My family is full of people like her.

Although her grandiose announcement that she is now going to start a blog to help alcoholic women is a bit much ... I think there’s still a personality disorder in there. I hope her kids are ok.

PP
personality disorders and alcoholism are like bread and butter in my family so that sounds familiar.

Guys. All of the major mom bloggers/Dooce/Glennon Doyles/Elizabeth Gilberts etc of the world have serious mental health issues - almost always personality disorders - in addition to addictions or at the very least, addictive traits. They also lie about their marriages/sexuality/finances. You know this. You have already known this. You are not surprised about Dooce — COME. ON.

I was surprised by Dooce’s alcoholism. She has written so much about her mental health diagnoses and treatment. So much about her divorce and the aftermath. So I was surprised that there were EVEN MORE layers of sadness and dysfunction.

Dooce is irritating AF. It’s fine if she wants to be an alcoholic now, but her stupid vague booking in hideous poetry instead of actually blogging is ridiculous

For some reason I still do read Dooce. I have no idea if she is an alcoholic or not but for a whole decade her blog has been a continuous cycle of complaining that it’s the worst year of her life , followed my some miracle cure or revelation that has left her happier than ever. It’s exhausting and she seems effed up behind just being an alcoholic

A couple of years ago she was treated for depression. Now alcoholism? I used to love mommy blogs but it’s become clear most of them are putting on a show

I started reading her back in 2004, so a LONG time ago. I kept up for a while but eventually quit. It's clear that she has an undying need for attention. Having said that, I sympathize with her struggles with depression and yes, now with addiction. I wonder how serious she is about going the distance. I wish her well, but she is mostly too dramatic for me.

I only know of her and Penelope Trunk and they are both trainwrecks exploiting their kids and begging for attention.

I see you Dooce and Penelope and encourage you to get help before doling out advice to others.

Glennon Doyle and Elizabeth Gilbert are also annoying AF. What is up with these white ladies?!

After Hal died she made a film and, while raising 4 kids basically on her own, just sort of threw away all old ideas about husbands and men and relationships. And MightyGirl is raising a trans kid. Good for them.

The Dooce drama reminds me of Fargo. You never know what extraordinary things lie just beneath it all or what's going on under the surface.

Yeah Rebecca Woolf of GirlsGoneChild has a book out this month called All of This about her husband Hal dying and going bi/poly.
