And while we’re going on the topic of things mommies like: what’s a play cafe? It was mentioned in another thread, but nobody answered. Please give a local example. Thx!

I thought this would be about mommy blogs talking too much about baby poo.

This is completely off-topic (I used to read Dooce, have not for years, just looked again and didn't understand WTH she was talking about...) Anyway, a play cafe is where you can go hang out and get coffee with a friend while your young kids play nearby. I used to live in Charlottesville and there's one there, C'Ville Coffee (or at least there was). My kids are now 11 and 8 but back when they were preschool/toddler age I was really bummed there was nowhere around here I could go meet with a friend to chat while they entertained themselves (I live in Arlington, but looked around DC and Alexandria and didn't find anything there).

I realize that I am so isolated from all of this. GOMI. Dooce. And I’m scared to click for fear if getting sucked in.

Would it be weird to host a kid’s birthday party there? Because that’s the focus of the other thread (holding a party there or at the Y).

There was one for a little while in Fairfax - it was called PB & Jack. It was super cute! I guess they couldn't make a go of it in this area, because they closed.

Dooce looks bad. Does she have health issues? Is the on drugs? Anorexic?

She does have some ongoing GI thing that she's blogged about. I think she's got serious mental health issues but doubt illegal drugs are involved because 1. Lingering Mormon guilt and 2. IIRC she's on pretty high doses of antidepressants and is probably smart enough not to risk some kind of interaction.

I have no idea what she's on about in this latest rant. I can't completely hate on the woman though because she was really outspoken about PPD and gave a voice to a lot of women, especially in Utah, who are really really hesitant to discuss motherhood in any way that might be considered remotely negative.

Arrrg, of course I clicked into GOMI and wasted most of my day raging about vile people who exist on the Internet. Somehow links took me to WOW some crazy stories about someone called the Freckled Fox and now I understand why people vote for Trump and our country is going to hell and that is all.

I still dont understand what she is talking about. Is this about Pete’s wife, Robin?

I tried to read her again after seeing this thread...no success! I got 2 paragraphs in a said IDGAF. She’s a basket case who isn’t funny anymore.
