This thread is about speeding not about driving too slow. Don’t speed, don’t get a ticket. |

IF this thread is about speeding, why do people like you keep suggesting driving below the limit? |
The bolded might be true on this highway but not in the city where there are also pedestrians and cyclists and people turning, etc. The speed limit in the city is too high anyway- the limit is 25 most places and people think that means they can drive 38mph, which greatly increases the potential for hitting other road users like pedestrians and cyclists. |
Um, these cameras are at the bottom of hills because people tend to speed up going down hill. There are also crosswalks at most of the places that you mention (I am not familiar with the SE-SW freeway so maybe not there). But there is one on Military that has bad sightlines already because of the large trees; drivers speeding down the hills have trouble stopping for pedestrians trying to lawfully cross. |
Here are the options: 1. Drive faster than the speed limit 2. Drive exactly the speed limit 3. Drive slower than the speed limit That's all there is. There are no other options. #1 is illegal. #2 is difficult to do, except on a limited-access highway on cruise control. So that leaves #3. |
Actually we are allowed to drive over all the time due to an unenforceable law 95% of the time. That’s why the law is dumb unless coupled with an effective enforcement method. Cameras make it more effective. Other technology would enable even more effective enforcement. |
I have not suggested going below the limit. Rather, not speeding. I agree with a PP that going exactly the limit is difficult so a safe driver would err on the side of below the limit. Five below the limit is good for me. I am in no rush. How fast do you have to go and why? |
