For shame.

? why? what happened?

Parents behaving badly. Shouting, heckling, interrupting, booing, preventing the presenters from presenting.

that is a shame, and really bad role models for the kids there. I wonder what they would say if their kids heckled their teachers in class because they didn't like what they were hearing? I know I'd be ashamed of my kids.

And on top of it all, the boe takes notice and gives the shaft to the rudest of the group. Just look at Clarksburg. BOE even sent a follow up email saying their behavior was uncalled for. And they got redistricted HARD.

Good grief. Were there vocal opponents from Cabin Branch and Gibbs who behaved badly? Yes, there sure were (and apparently still are). Did those areas get reassigned to punish them? No. They got reassigned because reassigning them made sense in the context of MCPS policies and regulations.

Because BOE has an agent and they will just ignore you if you act “nice.”..
When naming RMES#5, BOE ignored nicely organized community input submitted to them and went with whatever fits their agenda

im confused.. so they're going to come up with boundary options and MCPS will choose one (I assume that MCPS isn't paying this firm 500k for nothing)... and theny they'll have to rearrange everything for Woodward, and then rearrange everything for Crown again? Doesn't make sense.

No. They are not going to come up with boundary options. This is not a boundary study. (In MCPS, "boundary study" means "the thing you do preparatory to changing school boundaries.") This is a comprehensive data analysis. In order to actually change boundaries, there will have to be boundary studies (i..e., the thing you do preparatory to changing school boundaries).

There will certainly be a boundary study (i.e., the thing you do preparatory to changing school boundaries) for Woodward HS, before it opens. There will also certainly be a boundary study (i.e., the thing you do preparatory to changing school boundaries) for Crown HS, before it opens.

So what are the three “options” then? Options for what?

Alternatively, BoE considered all of the input but ultimately made a decision you disagree with.

yes, it does. consultant at the meeting confirmed that the data is not adjusted for special programs (immersion/magnet/spec ed), therefore it is actually meaningless and is there for optics.

Nope. It said right there on the poster that it does not include those students.

That is not what consultant said when a person asked the question (lady actually came to podium and asked). He specifically said that the metrics were not adjusted for COSA's and special programs and thank her for bringing it up as that was the type of feedback they are actually soliciting. Were you at the meeting?
Which brings me to another point, if their graphs and their words dont agree, how can we trust anything that comes out of this "study"?

It’s really a shame the Clarksburg kids got punished for their parents bad behavior.

Yeh, They made the decision that 90% of the community who actually live in the school zone disagree with..

It's the Montgomery County Board of Education, not the Richard Montgomery Cluster Board of Education. I understand that there were upset people, but that's how it works.

Except that the rezoning isn't punishment, and honestly I think it's bizarre that people think it is.

Will there be any MCPS leadership there? I went to one a few months ago, run by some consultant they hired, and no one from the Board of Ed was there, nor any high-ranking MCPS officials.

When has any actual leadership ever attended a public forum. I went for fifteen minutes tonight but couldn't stand the Soviet era rules. I have been observing Mr. Smith's attendance -- and I am not aware of a public meeting where he has actually be present (besides press conferences), particularly after Damascus incident. Tonight he came via taped video message. He sometimes sends Ms. Navarro. Will someone please correct me? Please provide time and place and some sort of evidence of his attendance in the past year to a public forum. Derrick Smith (MCPS' very talented flak) -- here's your chance to actually answer a question and not spin...
