It is still good for the touches but the techniques used for higher level futsal are just not commonly used or useful on the soccer field in as much as soccer touches are not useful on the futsal court.

Understood at higher levels, the skill sets between the two games diverge, but futsal touches/moves in tight spaces in a soccer game work great.

I guess the question becomes higher levels. Indoor soccer is also great for teaching touches/moves in tight spaces. Both pursuits are fine if you want to add more soccer to your kids life and they truly enjoy it. The end game for both of those sports is only recreation and enjoyment. Sure, both have ‘pro’ teams and leagues for competition, but those are nothing compared to the traditional soccer world. If you want to succeed in soccer, neither one of those pursuits are going to be very beneficial once kids get into their teens.

I have seen coaches' opinions vary. European coaches feel as everyone on here has said. But I think Latin American coaches have a different view.

There are definite virtues, such as the pace of play, small spaces, skill development, more chances to shoot on goal but also quicker punishment for a mistake. The biggest disadvantage I see is the ball itself. As a highly respected coach once said, everyone's touch looks good when it's a weighted ball. Just go into it with perspective.
