Why are women’s underwear so expensive?

? What is the problem.

NP, it is better to match your bra to your top and your panties to your bottom. White t? Nude smooth bra. Black pants? Black thong. Matching sets with the heavily embellished details are great... But not with clothes!

You can match both and not all lingerie is heavily embellished.

You do realize the only people that wear ugly molded cup nude bras under white (or ever) are Americans, right? Go to any lingerie store in Europe and you won't find nude bras or very few.

Matching is easy and all high end brands and most mid range brands make sets. Some view them as part of an outfit. If yours are a ratty mismatched nude colored after thought, that's fine, but it doesn't make your opinion any more right than someone who prefers the former.

What's wrong with wearing things that Americans wear? We ARE Americans. In America... Who are you trying to be?

Land of the free, home of the hideous Army-issue molded cup bra. Blech.

What’s wrong with a molded cup bra?

They keep my nipples from showing in a t shirt

They are ugly and make breasts look like rounded foam balls under clothes. If you are uncomfortable with any semblance of your natural breast shape possibly showing, stick with your molded cups.

NP. I disagree. I personally love molded cups. I don't need padded though. I don't want to see nip in the workplace.

I match my bra and panties pretty much every day, but I don't exclusively buy matching sets. I do have several (pretty) nude bras, several black bras, and then a handful of colored. I just match my nudes with nude, blacks with blacks, and so on. Very simple. Also looks nicer. You don't HAVE to do this but I don't know why someone would criticize women who do.

OP, Nordstrom Rack always has Natori, plus many other nicer brands at a much more reasonable price. Most of my stuff comes from there, I'd say.

Underwear is the foundation for your outfit, not stand alone things. Go buy cute nighties if you want to look good for your partner.

It is the foundation, that is why I start with nicer matching items. All of which could be stand alone ensembles. I am not wearing it for DH, he benefits from it. Even when I was single and not in a relationship I wore similar items.

As far as your “nighties” comment, the tease starts long before bed. And my DH doesn’t want “cute”.

The bigger you are (weight wise) the more expensive the undergarments.

I can easily see the amount quoted by OP if she got specialty support items . These are expensive because many women do not buy them everyday and keep them for years. The cheaper garments break, tear, wear out easily (elastics, clasps , wires, braces) so there’s that.

Wait, you have to be conventionally attractive to spend money on underwear? Who knew! Someone tell luxury stores to update their policies.

The people who can afford such expensive underwear are few and far between. Majority will not look like this model-

I hope not. WTF is with those lips? And the eyebrows?

You have no idea what you are talking about. A lot of higher brands don’t even make larger cup sizes. And they have half the alphabet at Walmart. If you want quality and something that looks decent you are going to pay for it.

Okay, and others disagree. I don’t know why you’re so angry about this.

I can afford it and spend a lot more than OP on lingerie shopping trips and look nothing like her. By the way her lingerie budget for that shoot is pretty low since she is wearing a bra.

Meant isn’t wearing a bra.

Me, too! I love how luxury brands persuade people to part with their money to feel special. It is genius.
