Sports fans in D.C. tend to get in the faces of of people (who are minding their own business) wearing the opposing teams' shirt. I have seen it enough times, though second hand. Not a good look, in general.

You clearly havent spent time at many sporting events if you think DC fans are rough.

HAHAHAHHA. Wrong. DC fans are rude.

OMG truer words never spoken, in bold above. I’m married to a Giants/Mets fan. We have been to almost every Giants-Redskins game here since we met 25 years ago and tons of Mets-Nats games. No one ever hassles him just for wearing the other jersey, and he always does. We’ve been to multiple games for our teams in NY and Philly and get hassled constantly, and no, we don’t even wear jerseys in Philly, because that’s taking your life into your hands.

Folks in Philly will beat the Hell out of a fan from an opposing team. Philadelphia fans are hardcore and violent. They do not play in Philadelphia. If you dare to show up in a bar, hotel, or at any of their sporting events wearing an opposing team's jersey, then they will give you Hell.

There used to be a jail holding cell INSIDE Veterans Stadium. And it was used. Often.

It’s like everyone here failed spirit week. I’m from Pittsburgh and even in the far flung suburbs there is spirit and support for our sports. This is lame!

I haven't seen anything available, for the most part, in day to day brick and mortar stores. People aren't that interested - maybe in your face a bit the first few days, but that is about it. The sports fans in this area aren't very gracious - winning is not something that happens often. I was hoping it might make people happier (not obnoxious, but happy), if only for a day.

Arlington is lame, and filled with transplants.

Probably used until the blue collar fans sobered up - but I digress, isn't this a Nats thread? Why can't a thread about D.C. be just about D.C.?

LOL the whole area is filled with transplants who have their own teams, I suspect.

DC area fans aren't that loyal or that well behaved, in general. It may not be what you want to hear, but it is the truth. You can bring up other cities all you want, but they usually are not as badly behaved as the D.C. area fans.

Clearly, you did not grow up around Boston fans. We look like a church picnic in comparison.
