“I don’t see how they don’t impeach,” a former West Wing official told me today. “This could unwind very fast, and I mean in days,” a prominent Republican said.

This morning, Sean Hannity told friends the whistle-blower’s allegations are “really bad,” a person briefed on Hannity’s conversations told me.

And according to four sources, Fox Corp CEO Lachlan Murdoch is already thinking about how to position the network for a post-Trump future.

“It’s management bedlam,” a Fox staffer told me. “This massive thing happened, and no one knows how to cover it.”

I am as anti-Trump as you can get, but I really don't know how much creadance I would give to a political article on Vanity Fair. It's a fluff magazine.

Was this reported elsewhere?

Gabe Sherman’s reporting took down Bill O’Reilly and Roger Ailes, but feel free to doubt this.

Yeah, when Vanity Fair rolls up their sleeves, they aren't printing fluff stories. They hit hard.

Translation: I don’t read VF and I don’t know what I’m talking about but I still have a strong opinion!

Will Hurd (R-TX) - former CIA officer and retiring member of the Intelligence Committee:
“There are a lot of disturbing allegations,” Hurd says of the whistleblower report. “There are a lot of elements in there that I think require follow-up.”

But they won't, so they will circle the wagon and then the whole wagon will sink.

I said this already today but they care about their own asses. Not country of course. And not even party. They care about reelection and that is all.

Impeachment is going to continue to get more popular. At some point 17 spineless GOP Senators will feel that their state may be enough for impeachment that they'll vote to convict.

They'll vote to convict because every last one of them is sick and tired of having to live this insane life.

While I don't agree with anything the Republicans stand for, I do believe most of them are true patriots. They know Trump is poison, and they're waiting breathlessly for the moment when they can turn on him.

It's going to happen. And the sooner the better -- if he's impeached before Thanksgiving, they have a chance of running someone (NOT Pence) next year.

They could've turned on him whenever they wanted. He's dirty as hell. If they wanted to ruin him they could've. They didn't think they needed to. And then, they never thought he'd win.

Supporting him has always been what their constituents wanted. But that may be changing.

How ironic would it be that another person with a last name ending with these three letters “sky” got a President impeached! Hopefully, this President does what all Republicans do...RUN (resign)!

True patriots don't wait breathlessly to fix something.

EXACTLY, PP!

Anyone who supports Trump is NOT a patriot!

If the whole impeachment exercise is a charade, the Republican senate should immediately hold a vote to summarily dismiss the charges and refuse to convict.
I say this as someone who did not vote for Trump and would not vote for him. Apparently, the Democrats want to fast track the impeachment decision and hold a vote by the end of October with hearings to be completed by then so that it does not interfere with the primaries that will start in January.

Given that there are less than 15 months to the next election, that is the vehicle to replace Trump.

Depends what Pence said to Zelenskyy in Poland.

Stop misspelling his name. It’s “Zelensky”.

Actually, it’s spelled with double y in the WH transcript. There is no official single transliteration of Zelenskyy’s name from Ukrainian cyrillic alphabet into latin alphabet used in English. The Zelenskyy administration has confirmed that Zelenskyy himself prefers the “Zelenskyy” transliteration and that Zelenskyy’s name is spelled “Zelenskyy” in his passport. See more here - https://www.atlanticcouncil.org/blogs/ukrainealert/zelensky-zelenskiy-zelenskyy-spelling-confusion-doesn-t-help-ukraine/

Also, in case you were wondering, people should use “Kyiv” and “Ukraine” instead of “Kiev” and “The Ukraine,” which are considered vestiges of Soviet/Russian domination.
