We haven’t really seen many female superheroes. Honestly most of the men aren’t “evil” either. Only Homelander has a psychotic killing streak.

I haven’t seen the show but some posters have mentioned rape by the male superheroes. I would consider that evil.

Maybe you should watch the show before commenting condescendingly.

There was 1 instance when a single male superhero forcibly coerced a female superhero into performing fellatio on him by using his position of power. That one superhero is who I mentioned as being evil, along with Homelander (who you won’t know because you haven’t watched).

ANYWAY - I don’t think the stretch superhero is evil because he is a hypocrite closet homosexual. I don’t think Translucent is EVIL because he’s a pervert, and A Train was instructed by Homelander - terrible deed, and a murderer but I don’t consider him evil.

I think evil is being confused with being bad people/assholes/etc.

Out of genuine curiosity - how did you all feel about Deep being raped in Ohio?

Not only are they evil in the super villain sense, they commit very realistic crimes against women.

Translucent spies on women in bathrooms.
A Train purposefully gave his GF a fatal overdose.
The Deep sexually assaulted women.

Not just women.

Stretch guy is no angel either. He literally preaches all the core tenants of a Christian faith and practices none of them while abhoring anyone who does.

Meanwhile he's in a club having sex with three guys and its pretty clear leading what he would call a 'hedonistic' lifestyle.

All the men are shit. And while the women don't seem to get their hands dirty, it doesn't absolve them either.

She's not a supe, but Stilwell was definitely evil. Not in a murderous way but she's manipulative, treats people like objects, and does what is best for the bottom line.

Well the theme is power corrupts and god like powers absolutely corrupt unless you are a woman.

I think he deserved it. I couldn't tell if the girl did it intentionally as payback for his assaults, or if she genuinely got off on it.

I'm wondering if the show will either us it as a turning point for him to improve- he sees the error of his ways and changes for the good- or if it's the start of a downward spiral.

True, definitely deserved it. I wonder that as well, seems as though him cutting his hair and everything was supposed to be symbolic. Either that or he decides to go live in the water.

I’m a man so I’ve never been harassed to the extent of a female, so I was curious if I was callous in thinking he deserved it or if it’s the whole, “2 wrongs don’t make a right” sort of thing.

I never think rape/sexual assault is deserved and I’m a survivor of six years of CSA and the mother of a rape survivor before you pull any “You wouldn’t feel that way if...” BS. It is an inexcusable evil. Nothing justifies it.

I don’t think rape should be used as a way of providing character growth or a plot twist.

I DO think The Deep now understands how wrong his actions are. That understanding doesn’t redeem him. Rapists and child molesters often were victims of CSA themselves. They can understand the pain without that understanding prompting actual compassion or accountability.

If The Deep has a turning point, it needs to be something proactive.

Evil is profoundly immoral or wicked, bad. I don’t need to watch it to know it’s immoral based on what I’ve read so far, I’ll take a hard pass on watching it..

Thank you for that insight, and being willing to answer and be so forthcoming. For whatever it’s worth, I’m sorry for what you and your family had to deal with. My ex was a rape survivor and I remember the toll it took on her, but knowing I could never truly understand how she felt.

Anyway, I’m interested in seeing how they have The Deep change (if he does).

Lol no one is concerned with whether you watch the show or not. And you’re entitled to your opinion, albeit an uninformed one, but I respect it nonetheless.

I did and I don't get it. Where was Butcher? It looked like heaven. I thought his wife and kid died in childbirth?

Nope - that was sort of the whole point behind it. You may want to check it out again.
