Agree with this. OP, please ease up on all the talk about your sister. You’re embarrassing yourself and your sister. Let us tell you that before she pulls you aside and tells you to knock it off. |
I've heard lots of stupid people refer to Ed.D and PsychD and all the other bullshit doctorates as PhDs. Makes me cringe
|

OP here. Our family is beyond proud of her!
She is the first doctor in our family so I will brag about it! I did heed your advice and will NOT say she’s a scientist. Social scientist maybe or educational researcher |
Oh dear. Here we go again. She is also not a doctor Please try not to appear so desperate |
She IS a doctor. Her title earned is Dr. /will sign her name : Dr. Jane Smith, PhD |
Fascinating thread - I am Clinical Psych PhD I have conducted RCTs to treat addiction and held several positions with ‘scientist’ in the title. But I am thankful that DCUM has clarified that I am not a scientist.....y’all are hilarious |
Actually not always. Phds in education mean there's a bigger research component to the degree than with an Edd |
Jealous much? Either you're a disgruntled physician or you're jealous because there's no other reason to take such a position. |
No, there are real Ph.D. programs in education. Stanford, UC Davis. |
| What do the nay-sayers think about psychology phd's? (NOT psy.d degrees) --science or not science? Assuming equivalent requirements couldn't an education doctorate be as "sciency" as a psych phd? Beyond that it would be a question of practice--whether the person focuses on continuing research and academics or not. |
Oh, but that climate denial petition of "scientists" does
|
This. She’s not a scientist. Research and data analytics. |
Oh OP. No she will not sign her name Dr. Jane Smith, PhD. She should sign her name Jane Smith, PhD. People may address her as Dr. Jane Smith. But it's redundant to list both in the same title. I feel bad for piling on OP. I'm assuming you probably didn't go to college, and it's not your fault you aren't aware of the nuances of advanced education. |

Who said you aren't a scientist? |
