There is no 07 Spirit DA team currently. There is no U12 DA age group.

correct, for next year...

There is no roster set for next year that anyone knows. THe question is impossible to answer.

There are likely Great Falls kids who tried out as well as kids from other clubs. But the term "get" is past tense and frankly the 07 selection process is ongoing.

Well based on the number of kids and quality of the 06 group I am concerned about the 07 group. Being in Vienna i have options for my DD and she loves going to the spirit games. I just worry about the team the 07 GFR and Gunston teams that i hear are making up the team are not strong and the id sessions have been small.

We tried out and are too concerned with the caliber of talent but there has been no transparency on the selection process....

Friend says his 07 daughter was made an offer by Spirit MD...roster is supposedly already nearly filled

Is your kid any good?

By the looks of your VYS team standings, assuming you are playing 07, I'm not sure you should be looking down on anyone.

The same could be said for the GFR 07 team and their record... I dont think the VYS parent trying to look down but its a valid question. The talent is not there on those teams, so if spirit just plans to fill a roster with whoever they can get it would be good to know for those of us interested but unsure.

This is accurate for the 07s for the MD team. Coaches have also confirmed to players that Spirit will no longer be affiliated with the MD team, which will become Baltimore Amour DA for the 19-20 season. Coaches had already been announced for next year for all ages, and that will stay the same. Basically, nothing changes for the MD teams, other than no longer using the Spirit name or having anything to do with Spirit. I don't know anything about the VA teams.

Seems to me that 2007 is the one age group where the attendance at early ID sessions may or may not be indicative of future results. Many families simply don't think about tryouts in February-April until they move up to DA/ECNL system that does them earlier. Some families are also currently with ECNL clubs and may wait to see what their opportunity is where they are, and then jump ship if they don't get what they are looking for.... (and at a place like Loudoun, there are indeed solid players on the second teams at times who get overlooked and then do well elsewhere). There is also so much unrest going on (as detailed on other threads) at SYC, LMVSC, etc., that some movement may happen there. On the flip side, if everyone was saying that WS is the place to be, the players would have come, even early....

Is this a verbal announcement, or did they send a letter out?

Have any existing WSVA players been given offers at 06 or above or even verbal offers by Tom/Spencer/George? Anyone have an insight into when or if they might be coming?

This has been covered in other threads. Spirit does not give offers to current players until near the end of the season. In theory it is assumed a player has an offer unless told otherwise in advance. Players who feel they are on the bubble should reach out to their coach regarding their status.

It still would be nice to hear from the coaches on the topic and not just let players wonder. It doesn’t exactly make one feel valued. And with all of these rumors that they must know are circulating, I would think they would call a parent meeting to address things head on and try to dispel some of the misinformation. Avoiding it isn’t helping foster a good sense of community at the club level.

Unfortunately that seems to be true everywhere and anywhere you try out.
