Yes, but what the win ratio doesn't tell you is what I was talking about with having non-DA ready players. If you had watched the games, you would see that there is a core group that is very competitive when they are all out there. Then, there is a group of players that aren't ready and can't compete. Just like having a 1-2 positive impact players changes games, having 1-2 (or more) negative impact players changes it too. And there is an 05 forward who has spent the year largely on the 04 team, with the exception of a couple of games. So, if you don't have to force playing time for players that aren't ready and you return a goal scorer to the line up, that changes things.

Ok. Please tell us what teams the new and improved WSVA will beat next year in their conference?

How about your coaches just let your kids play? That would be a fun game to watch.

almost every elite team in the area is like this. the best teams are more level from 1-18. the weaker teams fall off after 1-5 or 1-8. the difference has more to do with depth, not the top talent.

Then if they all tighten their rosters instead of carrying players that aren't ready, they will be more competitive and in reality it will raise the level of training and game tactics for the entire team. The practices become harder for the remaining players. The coach can work on higher level concepts because those players are ready. And with the new Competition Cup, they have a chance at accessing higher level games. Plus, all the match ups for showcases will be higher level, raising development for the remaining players.

woohoo, apple pie AND cake for all? it's a nice thought, but clubs (especially WS) don't generally do this because it reduces club revenues.

if I hadn't been told by Spirit coaches that rosters will be smaller and that this is the direction the new owner wants to move in. I would agree. Several other parents said they had heard the same thing.

To this poster, did the coaches announce when the coaching slate for next year would be announced? They are short at least one coach with the departure of Lisa Coles from 05.

I’ve been very disappointed with communications from Spirit and think they need to do a much better job letting players and parents know what’s up, esp with regard to next season-not a word has been said on the subject, at least not to ALL current players.

To this poster, did the coaches announce when the coaching slate for next year would be announced? They are short at least one coach with the departure of Lisa Coles from 05.

+1. Coaching slate will factor in our decision on what to do next. And communication/lack thereof has been terrible on all fronts.

Communication at WSVA isn’t much different from any other club. They all hold their cards close to the vest. Best result would be from emailing Tom or George and asking questions. They are good about responding to any question they have an answer for at the time you ask. They don’t ghost on parent questions.

Arlington and BRYC also have not announced coaching slate for upcoming year. McLean's just came out. They are not the only ones

What do you think the timing is on all of this, I.e. when will offers go out for next year, when will coaches be announced, and when will dominos of parents and players making decisions ensue? Do you think this will all revolve around the final May 12 ID session?

^^^ Perhaps that is what they are waiting for, though they haven't had much new talent roll in at the other sessions, especially at younger ages (06 and 07). A lot of players will have committed elsewhere by then, though maybe they will get some players that didn't make an ECNL team come out.

I doubt they are relying on the ID sessions. They have had good players come in for practices for many of the age groups 06 and up through the spring, including guest players on occasion. Word is that offers should roll out soon.

Where did WSVA get the players for the 07 roster?
