Does anyone else think all the men wearing brown dressy shoes looks terrible?

But far more frequently you see arrested development men wearing things like this, "walnut" brown with feminine socks. A look that tells the world you lacked a masculine father figure growing up:

There is some truth to this, since OP asked. This crosses my mind. My dad would have never let my brother leave the house like that.

I don’t think you know what Eurotrash means.

I think that PP was being sarcastic, given another PP’s comment about brown shoes and Eurotrash.

Maybe we can stop using offensive xenophobic language on DCUM someday soon. Educate yourselves, people.

Thank god as a society we’re moving on from such unforgiving molds for men.

And all the tacky walnut shades tell people what? That you’re an advertising copywriter? That you’re a nance who went to THE Ohio State and you’ve “made it” Mr trendy and forward-thinking? Just not someone I’d ever take seriously or trust. The walnut with the socks indicates serious judgment concerns and a feminine appetite for attention.

Is there a way to wear brown shoes like that without having 2" of sock showing? DH is very tall and I think it just looks like we didn't tailor his pants well enough. We are getting 2 new suits custom made from a tailor this spring so that's why I'm asking. I had always tried to get his pants to come to the top of his sole in the back. He's 32.

I love brown shoes. I think they're stylish. Also, it's easier to fake cheap leather with black shoes than brown.

Sorry dude, you're a dinosaur. Insulting men by saying they show "feminine" (what?!) attributes doesn't fly anymore.

He will be able to pick how long he wants the hem. I agree that the highwater look is a questionable for a nice suit.

+1. PP just reveals herself as an older conservative who likely lives in the suburbs and doesn’t work downtown (if she works at all), and as such many of the guys who dress this way are unphased by this opinion.

You have clearly established that you are the one with issues here, not the men wearing a shoe color that you don’t like.

Oxblood...this should be a staple in every man's closet. It is the neutral color for a refined look.

TOTAL BETA!
High water
Japanese Asian fetish socks
Skinny pants
Never ever played sports
Potential attendee of Elizabeth Warren rally
SAD!

Ha ha. My spouse dresses a bit like this. He did a D1 sport in college, does CrossFit and triathlons regularly, and runs a 7min mile even now. No rallies, but you’re right he’s very liberal.

And if you’ve noticed, no one thinks in terms of “high waters” anymore. Slim pants often show a bit of socks, they don’t drag on the floor.

I guess the 90s style disheveled look is still a comfort to some.

This doesn't look recent.
