I'm French, and over there as well as other places on earth, brown leather shoes are the epitome of traditional style. Please get out of your little corner.

Men wear black shoes during the week. Guys and boys can wear brown. If some 30 year old male associate prances around the office in brown shoes and colorful socks ... he won’t be taken seriously.

Ugh, where is this - Staples???

It’s sad to see so many Millennial and Gen X man children prance around in this nancy boy trendy crap. Showy shoe colors and Dora the Explorer socks is the antithesis of masculinity.

I work in hospitals all day. This showy crap is worn by the douchebag medical device salesmen. Most of them are washed up ACC and Big Ten frat boys who still act like 20yo. Big shot execs and surgeons dress like men.

Big shot execs don't have time (anymore) to look fashionable, so they look plain. You perceive them as more manly because of their position.

Oh my gosh. Brown is a neutral. If brown shoes are paired with a conservative suit they look fashionable but conservative. If brown shoes are pared with polka dot pants and striped socks - they will have a more unique look.

But....the same thing could be said about black shoes.

Male here and I don’t get the brow shoes either. Don’t get a lot of the shoe choices most men make. Crisp tailored suit with shoes that look like modified combat boots. Or athletic toed laces.

Omg, you crack me up. I don’t see these men prancing, where do you live where men with brown shoes prance around

Ha!! I do think brown shoes can and have been worn forever and look great pending rest of what they are wearing is on point (neutral socks that match pants, well tailored suit or pants...but there is some truth to your statement!

If you're a really mans man your shoes shouldn't be the center of attention. It's just a feminine mindset to even want that. Like, what are you clamoring for, someone to say nice shoes? Random strangers to think he's got Queer Eye / Bravo style? That's just devoid of alpha machismo.

I looked up the French president Macron, he seems to only wear black dress shoes.

You're so wrong. Big shot execs have people who keep them in style.

But I don’t get your point. Black dress shoes are less attention grabbing than brown? Since when are brown shoes clamoring for attention? I literally notice whether a man is wearing ugly ass shoes or nice shoes. The color barely registers. And since when are French men, of all stereotypes, known for being Uber “macho” and fashion-ignorant?!? lol.

Again, how old are you posters with this stuff? It’s hilarious.

Except there is a photo IN THIS VERY THREAD with him wearing some electric blue shoes. Try again.
