07 ASIST Age Group

What I was asking was whether or not these clubs...SYA and/or Villareal feel that playing 11v11 sooner is beneficial to the development of the kids. I was wondering if this will be more common in the future and will U12 teams start moving up to U13 leagues/tournaments/etc sooner. I'm not concerned on how these two individual teams will do in this tournament although I think they will do just fine. A strong "A" 07 team should do very well against 06 "B" or "C" teams. Thanks

If you are looking for an opinion on when to start transitioning....I think you will get the full spectrum of answers so it all comes down to the talent level of that U12 team and the coach. I personally feel that we tend to rush things in this country and more touches on a small field is always better. I am also very old and remember the days of playing 3rd grade soccer on a full 11 v 11 game where some kids never saw the ball.

Kids play up all the time, move on...why is this a discussion?

Me too. I remember as girl in Kindergarten---drawing in the dirt on defense and turning cartwheels on that big field.

Fortunately, something clicked by 4th grade. But, probably a lot of those early years was sheer boredom of those big fields and tiny kids.

Typical american approach, let's rush to the next step before mastering the current.

That's the way it should be....move at the pace of europeans or africans? Hell no.

What has arlington ASIST done in the past regarding inclement weather? Looks like we may get some snow overnight and turn into rain on Friday. Regardless, weather is going to be miserable for anyone with games tomorrow?

Turf fields, play on.

Their brackets are far too random. They have A teams playing B teams, B teams playing C and D teams.
Some of their placement makes no sense. We should have saved our tournament fee...

I thought the games were evenly matched today. The morning one was freezing but the afternoon was quite nice. The fields were good with easy parking. Overall, a good experience.

The ref for the first game was awesome. We have had him before. He helped the kids with a bunch of the rules since it was the first game (younger agre group). Second game not so much, but that is ok.

Questioning an early game tomorrow in the snow, but it is early March.

I have an 08 and an 05 and it’s been going well. I think our brackets are very evenly matched for both kids’ teams. In fact, it’s a complete toss up at this point as to which teams will make it to the Finals, anyone’s game.. No huge blowouts, competitive games. Better yet, no craziness on the sidelines. Parents have been well behaved and refs have been good. It’s been pleasant. To the other pp, a B team at one Club may be equivalent to an A team at another Club.

Our 07 bracket grouping seems like a good matchup. So far the tournament is going well and scores are being updated quickly.

It looks like the two 07 teams in playing up are the two teams in the final for the U13 bracket.
