+1 We had co ed lock-ins and retreats at our church. Girls and boys were in separate areas when it came time to sleep. Never an issue. I was also a virgin until 20s.

We said no but just also curious what the rest would say.

I would be just as uncomfortable with this, if not more so. But my kids are not involved in youth groups with co-ed retreats and mixed sleepovers so I have no experience.

We had these all the time in my 150+ kid youth group. (Southern state) About 25 adult "chaperones" at the church and it was called a "Lock In"...there were two pool tables and a gym at the church, plus a game room for board games all night. We had pizza, then played volleyball and then stupid relay games in the gym, and then a midnight sundae bar...and they had room that was the "movie room" (it also doubled as the sleeping room for those who wanted to go to sleep...but most stayed up all night. There were rules for the movie/sleeping room: you had to be in a separate sleeping bag. No shared blankets, but could lie next to each other in adjacent sleeping bags) It was very supervised but very fun! And there weren't any "dark corners" or places you could go outside of the designated areas because all the other wings were locked. Some of my fav memories.

But would I allow a co-ed sleepover at someone's house for my 13 year old kid. No way.

I think you are purposely throwing out a red herring or else you are overthinking this. There is a big difference between a brother being in the house during his sister’s sleepover and a mixed group of boys and girls sleeping in the same room.

Some have mixed birthday sleepovers. My daughter has been a couple of times.

I seriously doubt most b/g twins are having joint sleepover parties as teens.

Meh I grew up with a brother one year younger and we had sleepovers at the same time in middle school when we were all effectively peers. Same with going to friends houses with male siblings close in age (older or younger) often. Never thought anything of it and there was definitely no sex happening in these scenarios.

I hosted and went to parties like this too. Anything we could’ve done overnight, we could’ve done any other time of day. It probably would’ve been easier to do more risky behavior right after school while our parents were working than overnight while they were home and supervising.

I get the gut reaction to say no, but really, it’s probably not the den of iniquity you’re imagining.

How old are you people who went to coed sleepovers? I graduated HS in 90 and this was unheard of.

Do you allow same sex sleepovers?

We did co-ed sleepovers until age 12 (with kids who have known each other forever). At 13 is where we drew the line.
