LOL. Yes, these were huge "back in the day."

Everything early 2000s is going to look dated. There are lots of people in here confusing early 2000s with 2010’s-ish.

Early 2000s was:
Thin eyebrows
Glitter/shimmery makeup
Juicy tracksuits
Low rise everything paired with tops that showed your belly
Ruffled minis
Denim minis
Popped collar polos
Gauchos
Flare leg or boot cut pants
Dresses with jeans
Everyone wore jeans or velour/terry pants back then and leggings were not a thing for casual wear. Athleisure didn’t exist as a concept yet.

Early 2010s:
Boot cut jeans - smaller than flare legs
Ed Hardy
Skinny jeans or leggings worn with tall boots
REALLY clunky/long statement necklaces
I feel like peasant skirts came back for like 5 minutes around 2009-2010ish

I think the “pop of color” shoes can look subtly dated. It seems like color isn’t really in right now. A lot of the fashion bloggers seem to be into the all-neutral athleisure trend lately. But they can also look good, just depends how you wear them.

Oh! I thought of another very early 2010s thing. It seemed like everyone was wearing empire-style shirts for awhile. They were tight around the bust and flowy around the waist. And you wore them with bootcut jeans lol.

- "pop of color" shoes

- colored skinny jeans

- Leggings with dresses

- Super clunky statement necklaces

- Skinny jeans that are super tight and then bunchy around ankles

- Scarves with everything, not just when out in cold weather

Etc.?

Wait, leggings with dresses are out? Does that include tights? What am I supposed to wear between my boots and my dress on cold days? Or did I miss that fad altogether?

Leggings are leggings. Tights are tights. Running "tights" are spandex workout pants.

The horseback riding look — tall no heel boots with leggings. I saw those everywhere around 2013

PEPLUM! That was so early 2010’s.

Oh guys. Look what I saw on Madewell's website today:

I swear I had this exact dress in the early 90s. I think it's still in a drawer at my parents' house. Maybe I will dig it up next time I'm visiting.
